- mi amours this is a long one -
you had been painting a lot recently, because painting meant you didn't have to think.
it was 9 am, ian had gotten up early to drive to san diego for a meeting, leaving you alone in a big house.
you didn't like to say you were alone, because you weren't. you had a little baby in your tummy, who was growing every day.
as of today, you were officially 6 and a half weeks pregnant.
you had been researching a bunch, reading everything you could get your hands on about the first trimesters.
you sat on the floor of your sun room. golden rays of morning light cascading through the windows and onto every surface it could find, lightning up the room.
the other paintings you had done hung up all over the sun room. the sun room was your favourite place in the world, it was filled with plants and made you feel good.
you were cross legged, with a canvas and paints infront of you. you had been mainly wearing bras and shorter tops around the house, because you loved to see your tummy now, even though there wasn't much there.
"what do you think angel? maybe the clouds should be a light pink?" you asked, rubbing your stomach softly with one hand and leaning back, looking at the light blue and white canvas.
infront of you, was a rainbow of paints, all light pinks, blues, purples and yellows. pastels had been your obsession recently, and you had been wanting to decorate the nursery with pastel colours.
it was way too early for the baby to kick yet, but you were determined for there to be movement earlier.
according to the baby books you had read, talking to your baby made them smarter and created a stronger connection before birth.
there was a tiny bump, but apparently it wasn't the baby yet, just bloating. but it was still nice to think of it as your baby growing.
you heard your phone go off and you took a deep breath, standing up shakily and walking over to your phone, which was charging on a chair.
as you reached down for your phone, tiny bits of your hair fell from your scrunchie, framing your face.
and your heart sunk at the text.
ian: hey babe, meeting was postponed until sunday so looks like i'll be down here for another three days. call me when you can. miss you and the baby already. xo
you let out a sigh, and rubbed your temples.
you missed ian, a lot. and three days is a long time. but, it'll be good for a little bit of time apart.maybe you'd call kat and see if she wanted to come spend some time with you, she loved being around the baby.
you walked down the stairs and into your kitchen, flicking on the lights. and you noticed a bouquet of flowers on the countertop.
you smiled and walked over, smelling the bouquet and remembering it was identical to the flowers you walked down the aisle with.
you picked up the card,
my love,
so sorry i am leaving today again, i'll be home as soon as i can. i love you and the baby so much. can't believe i've been married to the love of my life for a whole year. i guess time flies by when you're in love.
