your pov

your eyes opened when you felt the bed dip and joji slip out of your grasp.

"baby?" you groaned, keeping your eyes closed, from what you saw at first, it was still dark, way to early to even start getting ready.

"joji, are you okay?" you whined, sinking back into bed, the sound of a ambulance driving on the brooklyn street caused blue and red lights to cascade in patterns on the walls.

the room had the subtle smell of lavender you had put in the diffuser a couple hours earlier, prior to falling asleep.

"mhm, j-just go back to bed" he whispered, his voice so soft and timid you could barely hear. you reached for your phone, letting out a whine when the bright light irritated your eyes, 3:42 am. you groaned again and pulled the covers over your head, it was way to fucking early
to be awake, falling back asleep quickly.

crash

your eyes shot open, "what the fuck?" you whisper-shouted, you sat up quickly and rubbed your eyes. a huff left your lips, you just really wanted to sleep, and this was one of the several noises caused by the light of your life, your boyfriend, joji.

you swung your legs over your bed and stood up, your feet hitting the cold apartment floor.
"joji!" you shouted again, getting more and more frustrated by the second.

you stomped through your hallway and made your way to the kitchen, where the noises seemed to be coming from.

"joji, i swear to god-" you stopped mid sentence as you whipped around the corner, to see your boyfriend of 3 years, standing in the center of a circle of roses and rose petals.

"w-what is this?" you stuttered, taking a couple more steps closer to him. he grinned and reached out for my hand, pulling me into the circle of roses.

"j-joji, we have work at 7" you started to whine, biting your lip to hide the smile forming on your lips.

he knelt down on one knee. still being half asleep you still didn't connect the pieces in your mind.

"we have to get up in about 4 hours-" you whined, "just shhh for a minute" he shushed, grinning.

he pulled a box out from his pocket and held it in his hand, he took a deep breath and smiled.

"when i first saw you, slamming down tequila shots at brian's birthday party, trying to prove yourself to the guys i knew i was fucked. the first time i texted you, after relentlessly begging ian for your number, my fingers were shaking so much that i couldn't even type" he stuttered.

"the night you kissed me, then threw up the chinese food all over my shirt i knew you were the person i was meant to be with forever. that week we took a break, i didn't know what to do with myself, and that really showed me, i can't live with out you" he mumbled, his voice slightly cracking.

all the pieces connecting and a tear slipped down your cheek, you bit your lip furiously, as it was the only way to stop you from ugly crying in the middle of your apartment at 3 in the morning.

"so, y/n, will you marry me?"

those were the words that you had been waiting for, for the past 3 years of your life.

commitment had always been terrifying, but joji made it seem like nothing. sure you've been in love before, and dated people, but no one made you feel like the way joji made you feel.

he popped open the box, revealing a diamond, yet simple ring, another tear slid down your cheek, your hand clamped to your mouth.

"y-yes! a million times yes" you choked between cry's. he sniffled and slid the ring onto your finger, it fit perfectly.

he wiped away a tear with the pad of his thumb and wrapped his arms tightly around your waist. you flung your arms around his neck and sobbed quietly into his neck.

"i love you so much" he smiled through tears, pulling you away to look in his eyes, "i love you too" i smiled, connecting our lips together.

after sniffling and wiping away all the tears, you lay in jojis arms, he hugged you so tight like you would disappear if his grip wasn't tight enough.

he scooped you up and walked through the hallway, kicking open the door lightly with his foot and placing you on your bed.

"let's go back to bed" he whispered, sliding into bed next to me, and kissing my cheek, wrapping his arms around my waist and dragging you into him.

"goodnight" i whispered, he hummed a response and tucked his head into the crook of your neck. it didn't take long until you both fell asleep in each other's arms.
