your pov
it all happened very quickly. falling in love with joji, he was like a hurricane, and you had gotten sucked in.
not long after you two met, you were his girlfriend, and decided to rent an apartment together, in brooklyn. you had hunted for a place for ages, then finally you found the perfect condo. it was close to both your works, it was two bedrooms, a great kitchen and a breathtaking view of the city from the master bedroom. so you decided to take it.
then it got serious, and you eloped.
and he married you in his beanie and his jeans, and you wore a plain white sundress, and carried a bouquet of daisies you picked outside of town hall. you exchanged plain, sliver wedding bands from etsy, but it was perfect.
but i didn't matter what you wore, because all that mattered was that you got married. you didn't need a big wedding, with all your friends, floral arrangements and catering. all you need was him.
based on how young you and joji were when things got serious, nobody really expected you to stay together for long, both your and jojis friends warned you guys about being so young and making serious commitments, but you were in love with each other, and that's all that matters.
now, you were cooking an anniversary dinner in your apartment. patiently waiting for your husband to get home.
tonight was a very special night, and you needed to tell him something. so you were getting a little more nervous as each second passed by.
as the chicken cooked away in the pan, you started on the salad. your hips gently swaying to etta james as you chopped up the lettuce.
just as you were lighting the candles on the dining room table, the front door opened. you smiled as you heard joji place his keys down into the dish by the door.
"babe?" he called out, walking into the kitchen.
you pranced into the kitchen, "hey," you smiled, "well, it smells great in here," he grinned, placing his hands on your hips and pulling you in for a kiss.
"how is my gorgeous wife doing today?" he blushed, rubbing your lower back softly.
"i'm doing great, how was work?" you asked, placing the chicken onto a plate.
"it was fine, nothing exciting," he nodded, sitting down at his seat at the dining room table.
you brought the chicken to the table, and set down a beer for him as well. "you know me too well," he grinned, popping the top off the beer bottle.
-
"these are beautiful, thank you again," you blushed, referring to the flowers in the middle of the table that he has suprised you with this morning for you anniversary.
"anything for you," he winked, taking a sip of beer. you smiled down at your hands, anxiety was eating away at you, you just have to tell him, just get it over with. you thought to yourself.
"you alright, sunshine?" he mumbled, taking a bite of the chicken. "yeah, yeah. you know me, i'm just tired," you smiled back, picking up your fork.
"dinner is delicious, by the way," joji smirked, setting his knife down. "i'm glad you like it," you grinned back at him.
"oh, and before i forget.." he mumbled, standing up from the table, and walking over to his jacket, which hung up on the back of the door.
he carried a small red box back to the table and sit back down. "happy anniversary, i love you," he grinned, placing the small red box infront of your glass of water.
you blushed at him, then looked down at it.
"go ahead, open it." he cooed. you nodded and popped open the box. revealing a small wedding band, with a small diamond in the center. it was perfect.
"joji—" you started to say, but he cut you off.
"no, let me talk. i know we didn't do it right first time, and i promised you i wouldn't get you a diamond ring, and i'm a man of my word." he smiled.
you felt tears prick your eyes, and stood up, and he did too. then you wrapped your arms around him and he pulled you in, kissing the top of your head softly.
he pulled away and reached for your hand, you let him take off your old band and gently slide on the new one.
"i love you," he whispered, "i love you too, so much," you replied, looking up at him. just do it, it's now or never.
you reached under your chair and set down a black box infront of jojis plate. he gave you a quizzical look.
"happy anniversary," you smiled softly, feeling so nervous you could probably throw up.
he grinned and took the lid off the box.
he lifted up the black tissue paper and pulled out the photo. he looked at the black and white photo confused until he paused, and looked up at you, realizing what it was.
"y/n.. are you pregnant?"
you took a deep breath, nodding.
"i found out a couple weeks ago, i didn't know when the right time to tell you was.. i wanted to give you picture proof," you blushed shyly.
"a-are you bullshitting me? is this for real?" he asked again. you nodded again, looking into his eyes, searching for some sort of emotion.
"is this our baby?" he mumbled, and you swore a smile was growing on his lips. you felt butterflies in your stomach going crazy.
"y-yeah. that's our baby joj," you smiled, looking up at him. and then a smile grew on his face.
"so i'm gonna be a dad!?" he exclaimed, "yeah, and i'm gonna be a mom.." you grinned, the realization hitting you.
"HOLY SHIT, THERES A BABY IN THERE?!" he grinned, dropping to his knees, and putting a hand on your stomach.
tears now rolled down your face. you were going to be parents.
"i'm only 3 weeks joj, i don't think you'll be able to feel anything," you whispered, smiling down at him.
he jumped to his feet, "oh my god! i can't believe it! you're pregnant!" he exclaimed, hugging you tightly.
"oh shit, did i hug too tight? did i hurt the baby?" he panicked, pulling away. "no, it's okay, i need a hug," you nodded.
he grinned, tears rolling down his cheeks now, too.
"i'm so proud of you! you're so beautiful! you've got the pregnant glow already!" he grinned, sniffing.
you smiled, blush rising to your cheeks.
"we've gotta tell everyone! i'll call my parents! no, we should do yours first! oh my god the boys are gonna freak out!" he babbled.
"jesus, we're gonna be parents.. and i'm gonna be a dad," he whispered softly, his hands placing themselves on your hips.
"i know, can you believe it?" you giggled, wiping away a tear with your sleeve.
"no, no i cant," he smiled. pulling you in for another hug, but this time he left a little room in between your stomachs.
"i love you..." he grinned, placing both hands on your face and kissing you gently. the kiss tasted like salty tears and love.
then he rested his hands on your stomach,
"...and i love you, too."
