your pov

this was it, this afternoon i could lose my best friend of 13 years or get the best boyfriend in the world.

with every step closer you got to the cafe, the more you thought about turning back, and cancelling this whole plan.

you pushed open the café door and was immediately welcomed with familiar smell of coffee beans and the sound of jazz music playing softly.

your eyes landed on joji, who was currently drinking his usual black coffee in your 'spot' at this tiny whole in the wall café in brooklyn.

you shuffled over to him and he looked up, immediately he stood up and smiled, embracing you into a tight hug.

your hair flying into his face. but this was home, joji was home.

"hey y/n" he grinned, sitting back down in his seat across from you, "hey joj" you replied, shooting him a quick smile.

you were horrible at lying, especially to joji, considering you had know eachother for a long long time.

you listened to him talk about music and how annoying his new roommate, ian is. the waitress came over and smiled, "what are you feeling today darling?", "small soy latte, thanks" i gave her a small smile.

she walked away and joji reached into his bag, and began showing you his new artwork, "y/n? are you even listening?" he questioned, chuckling lightly.

"y-yeah sorry, i'm just tired" you replied quickly, not wanting to arouse anymore suspicion.

"are you sure? you can tell me anything you know that" he muttered, grabbing your hand from across the table.

"yes! i just- it just-" you were thankfully cut off  by the waitress. "here you are" she handed you your latte, giving you a warm smile, "thank you" you replied, sliding the latte towards you.

the waitress walked away, "y/n" he sighed, "c'mon" he begged.

your heart beating so fast, it felt like it was going to spill out of your chest.

"fine, i like you okay? and i've liked you for like 7 months, and i haven't told you yet, because i don't want to fuck up our friendship" you spit out all at once.

jojis mouth opened then closed, and then he just started. your heart still beating fast, "sorry" you muttered, standing up and pulling your coat on.

you waited for joji to say something, but nothing. he just stared. yep, you fucked up. it wasn't worth it, you had just fucked up a 13 year relationship over some stupid feelings.

you pushed your way through the people in the cafe and out the door, leaving joji alone.

you pushed the door open and shuffled out onto the street. you were on the verge of tears and currently questioning your entire life's choices.

you felt a hand on your back and someone whip you around, "what?" you began to say, but were cut off by joji grabbing my wrist and pulling you into him.

his lips smashed into mine. you were surprised at first but then moved your lips in rhythm with his.

your hands made their way up his chest and your hands gripped his t shirt with balled fists.
joji was a very good kisser.

you pulled away to take a second to breathe and he smiled, "i like you too".
