your pov

you had waited so so so long, to open your flower shop. it had been your dream since you were seven, to open your own flowershop.

and now you were finally going to.

you had found a small shop in the middle of town, right next to a tattoo shop. owned by a single dad, named joji.

he had a little girl named amaya, which i had learned meant "bright" in japanese. but he just called her "m".

joji was very sweet, and all his art and tattoos were beautiful. i had a couple done by him, a little lavender bunch on my ankle, and fleur. on the inside on my middle finger.

he would come in occasionally to buy bouquets of flowers to keep in his shop, "to brighten things up," he would say, with a smile on his face.

you had first met him when you handed him the deposit and first months rent at his house, and we're taken aback by how cute he was.

i saw amaya running around behind him, tripping ever so often, as she was just about 3 years old.

- 10 months later -

sometimes joji would drop her off when daycare was closed and i would let her make her own bouquets and she would point out all the pretty flowers.

she always left with a little flower tucked behind her ear.

joji was always very flirty, and i was kinda waiting for him to finally ask me out, but things were great now, as friends.

there was another girl working in the shop with me, avery, and she was waiting for the day joji actually asked me out.

i hung out with amaya a lot, and spent many dinners and weekends with the two of them, i call her petal because her cheeks are always pink like the petals of an azelea.

i had also learned a lot about joji and amaya. amaya's mom had the baby and decided being a mom was something she didn't want to do, so joji took her and moved to california.

she has a bunch of uncles who love her very much, uncle ian, uncle max, uncle chad and her dad. amaya and joji were very close, and she was his everything.

sometimes i wondered why i was never called aunt y/n, but I never asked.

you had also grown close to ian, max, and chad during the time i looked after amaya and joji and i grew closer.

today was friday, and avery had just left, meaning you would close up the shop pretty soon.

every friday, joji would come over after he closed his tattoo parlour, and we would drink a little and listen to music.

just as i was putting together the last bouquet of the night, the door that connected joji and i shop opened, and amaya ran in.

"y/n!" she grinned, running over to me, opening her arms for a hug. "hi petal," i smiled, picking her up and putting her on my hip.

"where's your dad?" i asked, keeping her high up on my hip as i placed the last branches of eucalyptus into a bouquet.

"over there" she mumbled, pointing her tiny finger in the direction of next door. "well he'll probably be worried sick, let's go over together, okay?" i grinned, tucking a flower behind her ear.

she nodded and i placed her down on the floor gently and she walked over to the door, with me in tow, carrying a bouquet i made for jojis front desk.
