"Mycroft, Her Love"
Five Days Later
A few days passed and it was Genesis' final day of rest. She had just lay back down- after spending half an hour walking to the bathroom, doing her business and returning to her bed- when her bedroom door swung open. Mycroft stood there with two white carrier bags in his hand. She smiled, this was the first time she had seen him in five days.
"Hey." He enters the room and drops the bags onto the bed before moving to sit beside her.
"I brought Chinese." She pumps her fist with a celebratory hissing noise, one to which Mycroft stared at her in response. He nods, accepting the action anyway.
They sat eating each scrap of food as the movie played through on the screen. A smirk crept onto Genesis' face when she noticed he was invested in the movie, not quite expecting Mycroft Holmes- of all people- to enjoy Clueless. As the end of the movie came to a close and the food was gone, Genesis found herself watching him watch the movie.
He caught her watching him as the credits rolled and smiled down at her.
"What is it?" She shakes her head, her smile growing.
"It's just... I'm happy," She reaches over and wraps her hand around around his where it lay on his chest, "here with you." His heart skipped a beat and he looked away momentarily as he gathered his thoughts. Before he had a chance to look back he heard a knocking and looked down to see her knocking impatiently on the plastic of her back brace. "I just need this off." He frowns and sits up, collecting the gel from her bedside table.
"You can take it off for this." Grinning, Genesis pushes herself forwards and pulls her hair around her shoulder.
"Great. Help me unbuckle it." A few minutes pass and Mycroft rests the plastic casing against the headboard and turns around as she lifts her top over her head. "You can turn around, Mycroft." Glancing over his shoulder, she sees him looking over her shoulder at him while clutching the duvet to her chest. Sighing at her decency, he positions himself behind her and squeezes some of the cool gel onto his hand. As he carefully smooths it over the red and purple blotch on her back he does his best not to add too much pressure to the bruise. "What does it look like?" He glances up, unsure how to phrase it. When she holds up her phone and slides the camera open, he hesitantly reaches out and snaps a picture for her.
When she looks at it, she notices how defined her spine is around the red and purple cloud of bruising. In her mind she was screaming. It was hideous. She was hideous. She'd have to say goodbye to any low-cut tops and dresses seeing as she was prone to hemosiderin staining and would have to suffer with an erratic-looking discoloured patch across her back as well as the possible physical struggles she'll face.
"Oh." She said and zoomed in on the most pronounced area where she could see her spine. "It looks awful." Mycroft pursed his lips and nodded to himself as he spread the gel outwards and around her waist.
"It will get better." She laughed hesitantly and looked back at him.
"You better not be lying." He shakes his head as he meets her gaze before withdrawing his hands from her waist.
"I would never lie to you."
"Prove it." He considers for a moment what he should say to prove to her that he was honest. It wasn't until he saw the mischievous smirk on her lips did he realise he wasn't supposed to talk to her. Leaning forwards, he rests his hands back on her waist and places a gentle kiss to the base of her neck.
