Trigger Warning: Menstruation and prescription drug use
Isla's POV:
Awsten's been in the UK for almost a week and it's my birthday tomorrow. However, tonight we had the poetry night with Jake.
Awsten had dressed in a dark button up and black skinny jeans. I had decided on a plaid shirt style dress that came to mid thighs with some love heart design fishnets and my docs.
We had decided to get to Manchester a couple of hours earlier to get food. I grabbed a small black backpack and put my phone charger, money and a bottle of water in, before popping some chewing gum into my mouth.
"You look beautiful, baby." Awsten smiled and gently kissed my lips.
"So do you. You smell so good as well." I kissed along his jaw but he tensed up. "What's wrong?"
"I've never met any of your friends before." He looked small and worried. "What if they don't like me?"
"I don't know why anyone on this earth wouldn't like you! Awsten you're perfect, stop worrying." I pinched his cheeks like a grandparent would making him laugh.
"Thank you, princess. Let's go." I opened the door and we stepped out, before I locked the door and unlocked my car.
I got into the car and pulled up my playlist on my phone and plugged it into the aux, I also put in the address for the cheapest car park in Manchester on my sat nav.
"It's so bizarre seeing you drive." Awsten said as I put my keys in the ignition.
"What because I'm a woman?" I joked.
"Yes! Women belong in the kitchen and under men; definitely not behind a wheel!" Awsten winked, carrying on my joke.
"God forbid we have any independence or rights!" I turned on the engine and started to pull out of the driveway.
"We can't have you bruise any male egos now, can we?" I could see Awsten smirking from the corner of my eye. I started to feel a dull cramp forming in my low stomach. "You okay?" Awsten must have noticed a change in my body language.
"I'm getting period pains but I'm not due on for another week." I sighed, driving through the village towards the A roads.
"Are they bad?" He asked me referring to the cramps.
"Nothing that will ruin the day." I brushed it off.
*******
"Why don't they have curly fries?" Awsten wined, he was starting to really get on my nerves.
"I don't know." I sighed, looking down at the menu in my hand.
"But I want curly fries." He sounded like a child. The ache in my abdomen was radiating to my lower ribs, making it difficult to sit comfortably.
"Awsten, what do you want me to do exactly?" I said agitated. He rolled his eyes and mumbled a 'nothing'
The pain increased and it felt like someone was twisting serrated knives just above my hipbones, at my belly button, and right in between my bottom two ribs.
"I need some fresh air I'll be right back." I said quickly, standing up from the table and rushing out of the restaurant. I let the cool air trace my skin but it wasn't enough to ease my pain.
I rummaged manically through my backpack trying to find the ibuprofen. I popped two in my hand and unscrewed the lid of my water bottle, swallowing the pills with a gulp of water.
