Our second meeting

I reached home just on time, Mag quickly helped me get dressed. By half past five we were all ready, Dave was wearing a black tuxedo with a bow tie, and Mag wore a long silk light blue dress with a sliver necklace. I wasn’t that into long dresses therefore I wore a black and white dress which come up to my knees, I had my black velvet heals on and Mag let me borrow a pair of white earrings to match my dress. The drive there took a while but it didn’t get to me much because I was too busy thinking about Jason. I didn’t know what but there was something about him that was different. So far every guy in college was the same for example they all ran after girls but Jason didn’t he didn’t bother too much about that topic.

The party was at someone’s house, it was huge but gorgeous. The mansion has trees on either side of the drive way making a passageway for cars to enter. When we entered the room it was decorated from the inside, and there were a lot of people. For the first half hour of the party Dave introduced me and Mag to many people but we still hadn’t met the host of this party until now.
I blinked.
Jason was here. He was wearing a tuxedo with a tie, looking very handsome but didn’t look too happy. Anyone could tell that he put on a fake smile. When he came towards us he had his parents beside him.

“Libster he is the host, and a very good friend” Dave said to me looking up at Jason’s Father.
“Hello Mr. Peterson the party’s going well” Dave said to the well-dressed man.
“Hello to you too my friend. Ah I guess this is your niece?” Mr Peterson said looking towards me I smiled.
“Yes, it’s her parents that I told you about” Dave said smiling
“Sorry about your parents dear, if you ever need anything you let your uncle Peterson know” he said smiling at me and then he came in for a hug. I saw Jason giving his dad a sharp look.
“Oh where are my manners, Libby this is my son Jason” I was expecting Jason to smile back at me but his reaction was the same as before.
“Why don’t you two talk” Mr. Peterson said holding Jason and me by the shoulder. We were left alone.

“Hi, how’s stuff?” he said as if he was meeting me for the first time
“Yeah good” I waited for him to say something else but he didn’t. “How was things at the library after I went?” I asked him
“Library?” he replied like he had no idea what I was on about
“Yes remember I met you today at the library” I said
“Nope, have no idea what you’re talking about, you making this up?” I was shocked how could he forget, we literally only met a couple of hours ago.
“No am not making this up. Caron introduced you to me, remember” this time I was a little annoyed I guess he isn’t dreamy after all.
“OH I remember you… so?” he said not a single bit bothered. It was like he was deliberately trying to tick me off. But I was calm.
“So how does your dad know my uncle?” I asked
“I thought he was your dad” he said
“No, you don’t listen much do you” I said
“I only listen to who and what I want to otherwise it goes in one ear and out the other, their business partners and he’s not my dad!” anger took over him.
“Sorry I didn’t know”
“Yeah you should be sorry” he said rolling his eyes at me.
I ignored his comment and hoped someone would save me. Finally Mag came to the rescue and took me away. For the rest of the party I stayed with Mag making sure I had no eye contact with Jason.

The nest day I woke up to the sound of the birds singing early in the morning. Today was going to be a long day I did my usual routine with dressing, breakfast, driving, and college. Time was going so fast while in college, it felt as if fate wanted me to go to the library ASAP. I spent some time after school with Kate as she needed some help with her work. It was half four by the time we finished.

“Thanks loads libs dunno what I would have done without you” Kate said smiling as we packed up
“No worries Kate just lemme know if you need anything else kay” we walked towards the front gate.
“You going to go to the library or home”.
“I’m going to the library” I said smiling at her, I already told her this morning about my job
“Okay cool, see you tomorrow” Kate said going . I began to walk to the library. I began to think about what Kate told me about Jason. I thought about how she told me that Mr. Peterson was Jason’s step-father and that he hates his guts so instead Jason kept his biological fathers second name which was Salvatore. Kate also told me that he’s an only child, filthy rich, doesn’t go to this college but he comes around here for the library. He stays on his own a lot and doesn’t really have much of a social life.

I arrived at the library, opened the door and saw Caron looking straight at me with Jason on her side.
“Libby where was you? I thought you wasn’t going to come” Caron said walking towards me still with Jason at her side.
“Sorry I’m late I got caught up with some work” I said
“It’s okay. Jason you take it from here” She said then walked away. For a couple of minutes I and Jason just stood still until finally he spoke.
“I’ll show you around” he said not looking at me once. I followed him in silence as he showed me around the library.

It was gorgeous. The bottom was separated in sections: Children, Students and adults. There was a huge set of stairs at the far end of the library which took us to the second floor. Jason told me that this floor was used for study classes, homework clubs, or staff meetings. Which explains all the wide spaced rooms. He then took me up another set of stairs but this clearly said ‘STAFF ONLY’ in huge black writing. We went up the spiral staircase leading to the last floor. This floor was smaller compared to the other two almost like an attic. On this floor there were only five rooms. Each junior member shared a room with the senior, except Caron she had her own room. Mine and Jason’s was small but I could get used to it. On one side the room was filled with books whereas the other side was more like a working/sitting area. On the walls there were many paintings... Out of nowhere Jason’s arm came across me and closed the door shut, not letting me see properly inside. He was about to go back down but I wanted to have a better look so I stopped him.
“Can I look inside?” I asked hoping he would let me. He nodded and re-opened the door for me and I smiled. “Thanks”. He smiled back but it was more like a not bothered smile.

I looked around the room. The room was decorated beautifully, it was very delicate and relaxing. I could tell this was place where I would spend most of my time in. I walked towards the books and began to run my fingers across them. On a wall shelf there was a modern radio and a very old record player. It was so quiet … and then Jason spoke
“Shall we go” Jason asked after only being in here for five minutes. I nodded and followed him back to the ground floor. Staying in a room alone with Jason was the only thing making me nervous. The dude is so rude … how am I going to live?

After a week being in the library I saw Jason for the first time in our work room.
“Hi” I said sitting next him. He was sitting down and looking at a science book.
“What do want?” he asked grouchily
“Nothing” I said smiling.
“Look I’m not in any way interested, so there’s no point talking to me” he gave me a heated.
“I’m only trying to …” he cut me off.
“I don’t care what you’re trying to do” he slammed his book shut and moved to another table. After that for the rest of the day I didn’t look at him never mind talking to him.

“Hun your home” Mag said greeting me as I entered the house. “You okay?” she asked.
“Umm yeah am fine just had a rough day” I said.
“Have a seat Mr and Mrs. Peterson can I get you two anything?” Dave said to Jason and his parents who were sitting comfortably on our couch. I hate him.
“Mag what are they doing here”
“Dave invited them over, be nice and go get dressed” she walked towards them and began to talk. Jason came to me holding a glass half- full of mango juice smiling. Now he’s just mocking me.
“What do you think you’re doing here?” I asked him.
“I was invited, if you have a problem talk to your uncle” he said smirking.
“I hope you choke on your drink” I banged my shoulder against his (maybe a little too hard) then went to my rom. I heard him laughing as I went up. I got changed thinking of what an idiot he is. I felt like I was cursed. Is this the only house he found to come to?

I went inside the kitchen and took a pile of plates. I was about to put them down till Jason shot out another useless comment.
“Here lemme help, don’t want you to fall now do we” he said taking the plates of me.
“Do you have to comment on everything” I asked still keeping a firm grip on the plates.
“Well since it annoys you so yeah” he said amused with my annoyed face.
“Libster come here please” Dave called from the kitchen. Jason laughed, holding the chair for support. I hope he falls I thought.
“Hahaha Libster, what a name” he was still laughing. It wasn’t that funny. I put out my leg and without meaning to he tripped over and fell flat onto the floor.
“Hahaha, who laughing now” I walked over him, running to the kitchen before he had the chance to grab my ankle. The diner was a mess. Jason was so fussy, first he didn’t want to sit next to me then he didn’t want to sit next to Mr. Peterson so he sat in the head chair which Dave had to give up. This just irritated me more. That night when I went to bed I promised myself I would try my best and stay away from Jason, at least like that we both would be happy.
