Chapter 11 - Free

I woke up to the loud sound of birds singing, I stretched my arms and legs instantly the pain came into action. I guess my leg hadn’t completely healed, I looked ahead and saw Jason still asleep. My eyes searched the ground and finally I came across a long thick branch. It was a painful process (standing up) but after a few brutal minutes I slowly walked towards Jason clutching onto his jacket, putting all my weight on the branch.  I looked at him for a minute then slightly bent down so my hand touched his shoulder. His eyes flew open and his arm moved from his face.
“Wake up sleeping beauty, time to go home” I said standing up again. He smiled at me and got up.
“You must be the evil queen then eh”
“What?”
“Walking stick. You sure it’s strong enough to hold your weight?” he asked as he put his jacket on, I made a face at him.
“Did you get hungry last night, seems like you took a nibble on your jacket” I said pointing to the one sleeve jacket.
“Hahaha yeah and your leg look a nibble too” he said eyeing the material wrapped around my leg.
“Shut up” I said.

We slowly walked for a little while until the place became familiar to us. I guess we’re not so lost any more. We carried on walking until the pain began kicking in again and I couldn’t take a step further.
“Could you hurry up please” Jason said as I drank from my water bottle
“Hello, my leg”
“So, what shall I do? Not my fault you’re clumsy” he stood looking at me as I ignored his comment and unwrapped the material from my leg.  The revolting sight made me feel like vomiting. The skin looked as if someone had ripped it apart allowing blood and puss to drizzle out. My skin was red and I could see bits of dry blood and dirt around my leg (considering the fact that we didn’t clean the blood away). If I looked any closer I’m sure I would be able to see the ligaments. I poured some of the water on my leg to wash away the dirt and blood.
“Jason” I said holding the bloody sleeve in my hand
“What?” I looked at his other sleeve, his eyes followed. “Oh come on really?”
“Hand it over” he angrily ripped the other sleeve off leaving his jacket. That just proves how loosely his jacket has been stitched together.  I threw away the old sleeve and took the new one. I tightly wrapped the sleeve around my leg once again covering the wound.
“Okay let’s go” I smiled at him as I got up. He picked up my bag and began walking with me slowly following.

Dawn come once we were out of the forest, and then… the stairs came.
“Err Jason” I said looking at the long line of stairs mocking me. He held out his hand. I looked at it.
“Your only option” he stood still, I took his hand, with all his force he swung my legs up and held me in a cradled position. I rested my head on his chest as he went down. He looked at me when I did so.
“What?” I asked
“Yeah head”
“I’m tired okay” I wrapped my arms around his neck tighter, he slowly look a step down. I smiled as we went down. He set me down when we got to the last stair and then he held my hand, with the other arm was wrapped around my waist. He helped me on the bike then sat in the front seat.
“Lobster” he said and I knew I was meant to hold him now. I held him with one hand because I was sitting on my side so that my leg wouldn’t get bent. As soon as Jason took off, the cold hit me making me shiver. For the first twenty minutes we rode in silence until Jason cleared his throat.
“How’s your leg?” he said keeping his eyes on the road
“It’s okay”
“You want to go to the hospital, it’s pretty bad” he said looking as my leg
“No it’s okay, Mag and Dave must be worried. I’ll go with them”
“So I was thinking…” he said taking a little time to get his words out
“Where do you want to go?” I asked knowing that he wanted to go out again.
“Coffee? Saturday?” he asked
“Sure, but you’re paying” he laughed then carried on driving. I began playing with the bracelet, the one Jason gave. I’ve been wearing it since he gave it to me and ever since then not once did I take it off.
