Chapter 31 Part 2- Wedding vows
Today was the day of my wedding. I looked at myself in my wedding gown. The gown, which was brought as a wedding gift by Mag and Dave, was a white ball gown. It was detailed with lace and had a small white bow attached to the waist. I waited patiently until Dave came in and stood frozen in his position.
"What do you think?" I asked twirling. Dave slowly walked towards me and hugged me, kissing me on the forehead. He released me from the hug and put his hands on my shoulders, smiling at me.
"You remind me so much of your mother" he whispered with a tear escaping his eye forcing my own tears to fall. He sniffed and wiped his tears away and showed me his best smile. "Your parents would be so proud. God bless you Libby" he cried. I instantly fell into his arms crying while he patted my back.
"I miss them so much" I cried. Dave gently freed me from his tight grip and kissed my forehead again. He turned me around and we both looked at our reflection in the tall mirror.
"They will always be with you" he whispered. "In here" he said pointing to my heart in the mirror. "Now Miss Libby Lentz I put this veil on you, on behalf of your father" Dave said putting the full- length vail on me, letting in fall to the ground. It was a family tradition that a bride's father would put her vail on. However as my father wasn't here, Dave took the role and I couldn't be more happy. Once I was ready he linked my arm and we went to the hospital, where my prince charming was waiting for me.Dave drove at a constant speed and talked to me the entire time. At times it was a little annoying as he wouldn't stop talking but then when I really thought about it, I didn't mind much as maybe in a couple of months or even days there would be no talking. At all.
After some time of driving we finally reached the hospital and all eyes were on us as I entered the hospital in a wedding gown and with Dave in a black and white suit. We went to Jason's room escorted by Dian who too was wearing a simple floor-length, cream colour dress with her lab coat on top. We walked slowly to Jason's room with all eyes on us but I was too nervous about getting married to even notice all the glares, whereas that was all Dave could talk about. We reached the room with Dian opening the door to revel a room lightly decorated with red and white roses and of course lilies. As we were having a wedding in the hospital we were limited to how many people we were allowed to invite therefore we simply had my family, Jason's family, one of Jason's friend (who I barley met) ,Kate and Lizzy. They all stood up with a priest standing near the window with Jason beside him. Jase was wearing a similar suit to Dave except he wore an ocean blue tie I once gifted him and for some odd reason he wore the sunglasses on his head. He smiled sheepishly at me when he saw me eyeing his glasses. I and Dave walked towards them with Dave dropping me off to the middle of the room, then I walked the rest of the way myself. It felt like my heart was going to pop out of me any minute. I tightened my grip on the bouquet of red roses and took slow breaths as I walked towards Jason; the man who I would finally marry.I stood in front of him and smiled. I could see the distress and anger he was feeling in his eyes but what hurt more was that I knew the reason behind his emotions.
"Just because you can't stand doesn't mean I can't bend down" I said picking my dress up and keeling on the ground. I looked into his eyes which were now filled with tears, he mouthed 'I love you' and I blushed, my cheeks turning bright pink. Jase reached out for my hands and with that our wedding ceremony began. The priest began speaking and we recited our vows.
"I Jason Sal... Peterson" everyone held their breath at the mentioning of 'Peterson'. I looked at Mrs. Peterson who already had tears in her eyes. Her son finally accepted her husband. "Take you Libby Lentz to be my lawfully wedded wife. With deepest joy I receive you into my life that together we may be one" he spoke with his gentle voice. I listened to his words with tears in my eyes .After Jason and I too recited my vows; throughout the entire ceremony Jason looked at me as if he fell in love with me countless times.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride" The priest said but before he could finish Jason brought his lips to mine and kissed me not wanting to waste any time. He held my waist tight and I wrapped my arms around his neck kissing him back. Once we heard clapping in the background we released each other and I fell into Jason arms full with embarrassment. Everyone laughed as they saw my checks flush pink and with that we were finally a married couple.
