Chapter 6 - Next stop NYC
“Libster! Finally your down … we need to talk” Dave being excited one minute and serious the next. “Okay, what’s up?” I knew he was going to give me some kind of pep talk about Jason. He made me sit down and he held my hand in his.
“Okay so most times when a guy and girl go places alone, serious things can happen” he said slowly.
“Dave get to the point please”
“Alright, Libby make sure there’s no funny business going on understood, you’re still young” he said holding his chin high. Funny business?
“What?” it was obvious he was talking about ‘making love and all’ but I was just teasing him.
“You know when kids are in the same room together alone they tend to do stuff” he put a kick in the word stuff.
“Stuff?”
“Yes stuff. Like coming close. REALLY close” he now was trying to make actions with his hands
“Alright alright, I understood the first time, don’t hurt your brain” I laughed at him and began to have my breakfast while he was scratching his head, I saw a glimpse of Mag laughing a bit herself.
And our journey began….
I sat down on my seat which was near the window side while Jason sat beside me. I was in a big problem. I had never been on an aeroplane without my parents and this time I was with Jason who knew nothing about how I react when it comes to aeroplanes. He saw my face.
“Lobster... you okay?” he noticed that I wasn’t keeping still.
“Erm yeah I think” but I knew I wasn’t.
“Lobster? What’s wrong you’re acting really weird” he said, this time facing me. It’s the first time I saw him concerned about me. Well I think he was concerned.
“I panic when it comes to aeroplanes, I’m scared of heights, and I hate it when the plane takes off and lands so I’m kinda creeping out right now” I couldn’t look at him.
“WHAT. Where was that before?” I looked at him and he understood that I was in no state for questions. “Alright don’t worry” He said he looked into my eyes and smiled at me. I smiled back at least he wasn’t angry at me. The plane began to move. I closed my eyes.
“Hey Lobster your fat you should really go on a diet” I knew he was trying to distract me
“If anyone needs the diet it’s you” I said through my teeth.
“Actually this isn’t fat its muscle” he pulled up his sleeve showing me his muscle.
“Hahaha show off” I laughed
“At least you smiled, now if you don’t mind can I have my hand back?”
“Your hand” I asked. He pointed down and my eyes traced his finger, my hand was locked onto his. I didn’t even notice that I was holding his hand until now, I quickly moved releasing my hand from his.
He smiled at me
“Hahaha, do you always go pink when you blush or your embarrassed” he looked at me laughing which made me turn pink more.
“Lobster, look through the window” he said to me pointing outside. I looked and smiled we were flying now and I hadn’t noticed when the plane took off
“Thank you Jason”
“Yeah Yeah,” he looked away as if he wasn’t bothered but I’m sure he was smiling too. The rest of the flight wasn’t too bad, after what Jason did I was feeling better. Every now and then he would ask me if I was okay and if I wasn’t he would just start to talk usually starting with an argument (it was the best way to start our conversation).
It was dark outside so I reckon it would be late night no wonder I was falling asleep. I rested my head on my right touching something hard and cold. I was too tired to open my eyes and see what it was so instead I wrapped my arms around myself and fell asleep. I began dreaming. I was still on the plane with Jason beside me but I was happy. Everyone on the plane was smiling and laughing until there was a noise which stopped the laughter. There were screams, children crying. I looked out the window and saw the plane was falling it was going faster and faster towards the ground, gravity fighting to pull the he plane to the ground. I began to panic and looked at Jason but his eyes were closed. I tried to shake but he wasn’t waking up I began crying. The plane shaking forcing people out of their seats. I heard someone call out my name and my eyes flung open.
“Libby, Libby are you okay? What happened” I saw Jason his eyes locked into mine, his face inches away from mine. I moved away from him releasing my tight grip around his toned arm.
“I’m sorry” I felt like crying
“It’s alright, I’m here okay don’t worry” he put his hand on mine and smiled. My heart skipped a beat when he said ‘I’m here’ no guy ever said that to me not even my own father. For some reason I didn’t want him to move, I didn’t want to lose the comfort I was getting from Jason. I closed my eyes again, placing my head backwards against the seat headrest. I felt a hand on mine again but I didn’t open my eyes.
“Get some sleep” Jason’s soft voice said, I began to get butterflies in my stomach, my heart was still beating fast, it wasn’t hard to ignore the feeling but I did my best concentrating more on keeping my eyes shut as I fell into a deep sleep.
