Chapter 6 - Bad News
Saturday morning, I pulled the curtains open and looked outside. It was raining outside, I went down to see were was Mag and Dave were. In the main room I saw a note saying ‘Gone out, we’ll be late xx Dave”. I was about to go to the kitchen but there was a heavy knock on the door. I opened the door looking at a tall man’s back. I could so tell who it was, for some odd reason Jason was outside my house.
“What do you want?” I asked slightly annoyed that I had to see him first thing in the morning.
“Good morning to you too. WOW … Did you enjoy your garbage hunt. How many birds have you got up there?” he looked at me eyeing me top to bottom, I looked in the mirror to see what he meant. I could feel hot blood rushing towards my face turning my checks bright pink. He burst out laughing.
I was a mess, my hair was in a plat but everywhere no wonder he said the bird comment, it looked like the a jungle just threw up on my head. I had my pink heart trousers; one trouser leg was rolled up to my knees whereas the other was fully down. Also I had a green sleeveless top on that had a little stain on the bottom left hand corner. I looked awful.
“Just tell me why your here” I flicked a bunch of hair behind me back tying to look cool instead I ended up looking like a fool in front of him. He calmed down.
“You’re coming to the library with me” he said pointing to his car, but before I said anything he spoke again. “Caron called she said there’s an emergency at the library. You wasn’t picking up your phone so she asked me to get you” I guess he knew what I was about to ask so he gave me the ‘be quiet’ look and carried on speaking. “I came coz no one else has a car and they don’t where you live, so I’m stuck with you. Now if you don’t mind can you hurry up, I do have more important things to do then wait around while you get all dolled up” he said not giving me a chance to speak as always. I made a face at him then I went to my room. I grabbed a pair of jeans, the first top I saw and flung my coat on.
“I’m ready let’s go” I said while coming down the stairs but he was already waiting for me in his car. He had an Audi TT in black. I was expecting him to open the door however I saw his lips moving saying to ‘hurry up’. Irolled my eye and forcefully got in his car and put my belt on slamming the door behind me. That’s when I ticked him off.
“Hey what happened to respect for cars?” he looked at me using his angry voice.
“Huh?” respect for cars? What was that supposed to mean now.
“All you girls are the same” he rolled his eyes at and put his belt on.
“What’s that supposed to mean, I think you’re the one who needs the respect” I said getting angry myself, these were times where I wish I had a gun.
“Hmm let’s see first nearly every girl has to slam the car door as if they pay for the car and secondly you all drive like slow pokes when on the road” this time he was looking straight at me, I saw his eyes again they looked lighter now, the blue showed more. I had to admit his eyes were a gorgeous colour. He so irritating but has to die for eyes. Another reason why I despise him.
“Hello Lobster to Earth” he said waving his hand in front of my face, I shook my head.
“Guys are the ones who drive like maniacs” I paused, thinking then spoke again “Wait a minute did you just call me Lobster?”
“Yeah why?” he said it so innocently as if he was complementing me
“Why would you call me that, my name is LIBBY not Lobster”
“Well I couldn't call you Libster coz we know that’s taken” He smirked at me and carried on talking “So I thought Lobster suits ya, don’t you think so?”
“No I don’t think so and how does it suit me?” I could feel my blood boil with anger
“First you’re always red, second you’re always snapping at people and third you’re kinda fat” he pointed at my stomach. My hand shot down and covered my stomach.
“I am not FAT” I yelled.
“That’s exactly what fat people say” he smiled again.
“Once again … why am I talking to you?”
“Ask yourself that question”
“It was a rhetorical question” I looked away not wanting to say any else. I began to feel weird being in the same car with him alone, we didn’t talk now. We stayed quiet though the drive. The car looked brand new from the inside, it was so messy and filthy just like any guy’s car would be and a great example was Dave. The car began to move faster by the minute, I knew Jason was driving like this just to annoy me but I ignored him.
