Chapter 9 - Surprised 

The dark night sky looked as if a large piece of black velvet had been laid across the sky, sprinkled with tiny colourful gems. I looked out the window then at my watch, it was quarter to nine and already outside was so dark. I heard a sound coming from outside taking my attention, Jason arrived. I saw him walk towards the house with his blood, red tie showing. I slowly got up and went down the stairs, taking care of every step I took. I went to the main room where he was sitting with a glass of water in his hand. He stood up giving me a clearer view of his outfit. He wore a black tuxedo with a white shirt and a red tie. My eyes made their way to his shoes then back up to his hair. It was done in the same messy style but in a way it suited him.

“You ready honey?” Mag asked walking towards me, I nodded.
“Have fun you too, don’t be too late” she kissed my cheek then left, leaving me alone in the room with Jason.
“Shall we?” he put the glass down and walked towards the door. I followed his footsteps. As I opened the belt of the robe I saw Jason turn away but once the robe was off he turned again this time holding a strong position.   

I quickly looked at myself to make sure I looked okay, I wore a light red velvet strapless dress. The top bit of the dress was covered with small silver gems shinning bright against the light. There were four thin pieces of red velvet overlapping to form a thick belt with a big red bow tightly attached to the belt separating the top and bottom half. The dress came up to my knees showing my thin legs and black glittery high heels. I wore a simple love heart silver necklace loosely resting on my chest. I had a bit of my hair curled up in three small swirls while the rest of it was left open spread out around my shoulders and back. I wore light make-up but my red lip-gloss equalled out the make-up.
“What?” I said slightly annoyed now as he still kept his position he had for the last two minutes. I saw his lips move but no sound came out.
“Erm …” he stopped and took a deep breath. I noticed his words were lost.
“Wanna say something?”
“Shall we go or do want to spend the night here?” he released himself and walked towards the car leaving me at the door step. I took a deep breath and stayed calm I undoubtedly didn’t want to ruin my night because of him. I got in the car and we drove off.

“You look nice” he said ending the awkward silence, his comment left me speechless
“Sorry?” I asked wanting to make what I heard was right
“I’m not saying it again, not my fault you didn’t hear” he opened the window and leaned his arm on the top bit of the door with his elbow pointing outwards.
“I heard what you said just a little bewildered” I looked at him, admiring the way his smile would slyly appear on his face but he would hide it.
“Yeah well don’t get too happy, you don’t look that good”
“Really?” for some odd reason his comment really affected me, I looked out the window hiding my facial expression.
“I’m kidding”
“Huh” I turned my head our eyes locked
“You actually do look gorgeous, I was just teasing you before” a small smile appeared on his face. I turned my head covering my shy smile.
“But of course you don’t look as good as me”
“Obviously” we both laughed, the atmosphere was full of cheerfulness.  

When we arrived we got out the car and stood there looking at the entrance. I looked up at Jason to see if he noticed the stares instead he was smiling at everyone as if he owned the party. His right arm moved up towards me in a bent shape hanging in the air, he looked down at his arm then back at me.
“What”
“If we’re going as a couple you’re going to have to link me”
“You mean as friends” I corrected him
“Just hold my arm”. I made a face at him but he wasn’t affected, slowly I raised my arm and placed it in the small hole he had left between his arm and his body. I felt many sharp eyes penetrating our backs as we walked. Kate was at the main door greeting everyone as they entered the party.
“Oh my gosh you actually came” she said when she say Jason beside me.
“Ah well I couldn’t miss this could I” he smiled at Kate handing her the small gift box with the bracelet inside. She took it gracefully.
“Thank you, enjoy the party” she shot me a wink and I’m sure Jason saw
“Why did she wink at you?”
“Erm don’t know” I shrugged my shoulders and carried on walking this time with me taking the lead.
