"I can't believe you did that," Julian grinned as he and Barry made their way into Star Labs, "I mean, I do but I can't believe you'd actually think that would work."
"What do you mean?" Barry asked.
"I know you said August might be Godspeed, but if he was doing you think he'd fall for such an easy trick?" Julian said, pressing the button to the elevator.
"It was worth a try..." Barry attempted to defend himself. Though, thinking about it, maybe he should've thought things through.
"Whatever," Julian said, changing the subject. "So hows Caitlin and the baby?" He asked as they stepped onto the elevator.
"The baby's good and healthy, about four weeks, the size of a poppy seed," Barry replied, "Caitlin's... okay."
"Doesn't sound like she is," Julian said.
"She isn't," Barry admitted, "but it's her personal, family stuff. I shouldn't say anything or get involved."
"I understand," Julian replied, "but if it is family stuff... why aren't you getting involved?"
Once Julian finished his sentence the elevator doors opened and he walked out, Barry was a second behind him, contemplating. He and Caitlin were a family now, plus it might relieve stress on Caitlin if he got involved. Plus, it was healthier for the baby.
As they reached the cortex, Cisco greeted them and Barry looked over to the glass wall med-bay. Caitlin was working, he could see her bite her lip from where he was standing. She walked out with a pile of papers, passing by the boys heading to the filing room.
"Cisco?! Why's she here?" Barry silently whispered angrily.
"I tried to tell her!" he replied, as Barry chased after her.
"Cait," he said catching up to her, "Why are you here? You should be home."
"I feel fine Barry," she kept walking.
"You should be resting," he replied.
"Barry," she said with a dry humorous tone, "you know that's something I don't do."
"Well, it should be," he scolded, "the first trimester is the most dangerous for the baby."
"You think I don't know that Barry. I'm a doctor," she replied coming at a stop, pushing her heel into the floor. Her voice was more aggressive, not Frost aggressive, but martial issue aggressive. They were currently standing at the end of the hallway, near the filing room and bathroom.
"Then you should know that you not resting and ignoring all this family drama is too much stress. Cait we could lose the baby-," suddenly Barry was cut off when Caitlin clutched her stomach with one hand and covered her mouth with the other.
Her face turned green, as she is usually used to it turning a paler shade of white. Quickly she turned around and ran into the bathrooms kneeling over a toilet, throwing up the little food she was able to eat today. Barry quickly followed her, sitting next to her, holding her hair and rubbing her back. Caitlin continued hacking and going at it for another hour until she didn't have enough energy to stay awake.
When it was clear that Caitlin had passed out from losing all her fluids, Barry carried her to the med-bay and Julian helped him attach an IV bag to her.
"I know women aren't usually this nauseous, what do you think is different?" Barry asked, his military trained medic friend.
"Typically during the trimester, it was common for women to have lots of nausea. Maybe it is that the child might be a meta or Caitlin's lack of rest and stress, but this was abnormally intense," Julian replied. "Just make her rest more, even if she freezes you, it's important. But I also know Caitlin, she is typically not completely at rest until she gets at least partial closure. But with the baby... Try dealing with whatever family drama she has, together."
Barry nodded and Julian left. Taking a seat next to Caitlin he held her hand. "Together..." he said tearily.
