Twenty seven

Caitlin fluttered her eyes open, turning her head to see Barry half asleep watching her. 

"Hey, sleepyhead," he joked," Cisco's on his way from Jitters with decaf tea and a fruit salad for you." 

Caitlin smiled and slowly sat up. "God, I'm so sorry about yesterday Barry. I was so careless. The baby-" 

"Shh," he hushed her, "just calm. I understand you have been under a lot lately. But I forgot something, and I'm stupid to have." 

"Barry..." Caitlin responded softly, wondering what Barry had been doing wrong to her.

"We are more than partners on Team Flash now... We are partners, for life. So we should be dealing with things together, whether it be some evil criminals, some annoying in-laws, or even evil in-laws." Caitlin laughed at his final joke. 

"Whatever you're dealing with," Barry continued, "We deal with together." 

Caitlin smiled holding Barry's hand tight. "I love you." 

"I love you too," Barry smiled back.

Caitlin pushed around her half eaten yogurt while she sat criss-cross on the gurney. Caitlin was starving, yet she couldn't bring herself to finish the perfectly good fruit salad Cisco had bought her. 

Ugh, Pregnancy... she sighed.

She had then asked him to go get her some Big Belly Burger for breakfast. 

"You feeling better?" Barry asked sipping his coffee, he had taken a few days off from work to spend time with her. 

"Yeah," she replied, "When do you think Cisco will get back, do you think he could stop by the pastry shop on the way back? Cannolis sound amazing right now, maybe with some ice cream or pudding. Mhmmm." 

Barry grinned, "You're first pregnancy cravings."

"Let's hope this baby inherited your high metabolism, or I'll never get rid of the baby fat," she replied.

"I'm just hoping he or she will inherit your brilliance," he said.

"And your beautiful emerald eyes," she added.

They both smiled at each other at peace for the first time in a while. They enjoyed the short moment before returning to reality. It was still only 9 am, they still had the whole day ahead of them. 

"I was thinking..." Caitlin initiated reluctantly, "I've basically met everyone in your family, Joe, Iris, Wally, your dad. Maybe it's time you meet some of mine." 

"Are you sure?" he asked.

"Yeah," she answered.

Soon Cisco had come back with more food, that Caitlin had eaten half of each and got sick of it, which then the boys then finished. It seemed like this was going to be the pattern for a while until Caitlin gets over her cravings. 

Before they left to meet Caitlin's family members, they still had some time to spare so they stayed in the med-bay talking. Not wanting to be a third wheel Cisco stayed in the cortex. 

"Since we've been talking about family so much, why don't we talk about godparents. Who would be godmother?" Barry said. Though he didn't like thinking about it, it was the inevitable truth that he and Caitlin risked their lives every day. It was important to make sure their child had guardians if something bad were to happen. 

"I mean, I guess either Iris or Felicity, Kara lives in another universe so..." Caitlin trailed off, thinking about this possible tragic future as well. 

"Iris is a good pick, but she is beginning to move around a lot from her job, and who knows if she'll move somewhere with Eric if things get serious. But then again she is also the baby's aunt," Barry added to the conversation. "Felicity, she lives over in Star City but is more stationary. Plus, she'd take the next train to Central City is she heard one of us had a cold."

"That's a tough choice..." Caitlin replied, "Let's leave that for later. But for godfather?"

"Now that's an obvious choice," Barry replied, looking at the cortex through the glass wall, seeing Cisco sing along and dance to music he was blasting from the computers. 

"Should we tell him now?" Caitlin asked. 

"I have a feeling he'd already know," Barry said. 

Caitlin agreed and called her friend in.

"Cisco!" she called. 

"Caitlin, what do you want pizza pockets now," Cisco replied walking in. 

"No, wait maybe..." she said.

Barry began talking, "We called you in here to give you a special title."

"Are you gonna tell Iris that the Flash has an amazing sidekick named Vibe?!" he said excitedly. 

"Wait, what? No," Barry responded, letting Cisco down a bit. But he was sure the actual news would set him off his feet. "Caitlin and I thought it was only suitable that you be our baby's Godfather."

"What really!?" Cisco said excitedly hugging his friends, "Thank you so much, baby flash will have the greatest Uncle/Godfather ever!"

"Don't get any ideas with a suit already," Caitlin playfully scolded. 

"No promises Caitlin," he replied leaving the room with a skip in his step in his best Godfather impression.
