The Burden

He left that morning
Those last words still echoing
He said he'd come back one day
I know a broken promise
I have used them myself
There is no coming back

I turned away from the ocean
This was one night
Few years back
Not yet used to farewells
Now I stood waving
I was younger then
Ocean was deep, dark and blue

Let the water freeze my bones
I could no longer stay here
It was too cold to swim
Still I kept on walking
I could not tell the difference
Between the ocean and the lack of someone I loved
Yet to learned the task of moving on

Days passed by
Now I'm writing letters
I will never dare to send.
This one day every year or so
The burden gets too heavy
I collect my belongings

Make my way to the ocean to burn
Setting fire to my chains
Flames on written words
Staring deep into the heat
Nothing left to hold me back

Enjoy! :)
