The base of the Resistance received Ben's distress signal, asking for the help of a medic droid immediately. Half a day later, the medical vessel arrived with the necessary equipment for emergency care.

And it was only two hours later that the verdict fell.

Ben was waiting in an airlock of the medical ship, attached to their old shuttle. Stoic, looking Atricia through a porthole under them, he did not move like a statue. Red-eyed to have cried, he was trying not to think that this life too fast could have been. He was trying not to understand why she had hidden from him that she was pregnant. He was trying to drive away all thought from his mind in fact.

The medicine droid finally arrived to give him news of Rey.

- How is she? Ben asked immediately.

- We were able to stop the uterine hemorrhage. On the other hand, the pregnancy is stopped. We're sorry, sir, said the droid in his mechanical voice without empathy.

Ben bit his lip. He had to ask.

- Pregnancy...

- It was an early miscarriage, sir. A dozen days.

- Twelve days ...

- But, sir, the miscarriage has been caused. It is not natural.

- What do you mean? Ben asked suddenly.

A doctor arrived, very human this one, and dismissed with a wave of the hand the medicinal droid who immediately left.

- What did it mean? Ben insisted.

- Your ... uh ... the patient (the doctor corrected) was poisoned. I found traces of a violent poison, which resulted in severe hypotension and consequences, the miscarriage.

Ben had to sit down. For the first time, he seemed fragile in front of someone other than Rey.

- But I do not think she can not have children anymore. Nothing is ever safe in this purview, but ....

Ben lost the flow of words. He was made to listen to a doctor talk about his ... woman ... wanting to have ... children! Everything was going too fast, too far, too much ...

- Stop! he shouted and the doctor stopped immediately. A poison, did you say?

The doctor nodded and then went off, looking troubled, to his patient. Ben thought of their journey in the market. He then understood what had happened. The girl who had hit Rey. It was the only explanation. He clenched his fists with anger. He knew that the Shadows used every conceivable method to achieve the goal they had set for themselves. And he felt Hux's hand behind all that. It outraged him, and the peculiar circumstances of this attack enraged him even more.

He got up again, and heard the doctor tell him, near Rey, that she was still unconscious for a few hours while the machines were purging her body of poison. And that she had missed very little to die. Ben did not answer. But as he watched the space around them, he noticed a ship approaching them. An X-Wing, newly painted in black and orange. The mark of Dameron. He came.

The X-Wing came to approach the medical vessel. Ben did not move, but he could sense Dameron's anger from here and his footsteps getting closer even without hearing them. He was running. He was afraid, and he wanted to fight ...

Poe burst into the waiting room, and the doctor, planning, shut the door that separated them from Rey. He took good care of staying in the room with her.

- How is she? he shouted to Ben without greeting.

- She's still unconscious. She was poisoned, he said without turning to him.
