He plunged into the forest to keep Rey away from the fighting he was trying to get closer. He knew she had no energy, the death of her two friends had deeply weakened her. He saw that she had been touched on the shoulder but also on the ankle. While a shot had grazed her shoulder, another had cut her ankle. He laid her down while she was still sounded. She winced in pain.

- Stay here. I will come back to look for you.

And he left.

- Where are you? he heard her say.

At these words everything came back to him. His vision. The probable future. It was his present. He froze. What to do? Change the course of things? Only his own words, those he had already uttered in his vision, came to him.

- I'll come back, sweetheart, I promise you, he told her harder.

He began to hear the clashes close to them. And he saw Poe arrive running, the blaster in his hand. They met each other's eyes. Ben gave a slight nod that Poe understood, and he continued on his way up a mound of dirt covered with white ash. Down below, behind the trees, he saw the city ravaged by the flames. A huge explosion intervened a little further. He would not have known if it had been provoked by the Resistance or the forces of the First Order, everything was so confused.

He saw that the fighting was at its peak. Soldiers on both sides were fighting each other. Tevarian speeders and bold X-Wing attacked the mighty First Order marchers. He coughed under the smell of soot that reached him. He saw Chewbacca sheltering behind the bartering of a huge tree to avoid blaster fire from a small group of three stormtroopers.

He knew that Poe was staying with Rey. She would be safe, and he could easily help Chewbacca. After all, he owed it to him. He advanced a few feet when he felt it. He sighed. He would have so much preferred that his future be different.

                                                                 ---------------------------------

- No! she began to scream. No...

Poe put his hand on her mouth. She bit him. He held a cry and tightened his hold on her.

Holding her firmly at the waist, he pulled her back to plunge into the woods. She struggled but could not get away from him. After a while, he felt himself pushed to the ground and collapsed, eating ash.

She had pushed him by the Force, and began to limp away. Grumbling and cursing against her stubbornness, he rushed at her and pinned her to the ground. Gripping her waist, he tried to keep her on her stomach, on the ground. He struggled with all his might to avoid the kicks she was trying to put on him.

- Rey, please, stop! he finally shouted at her.

- I have to go, I have to go back, she said breathlessly.

He finally got back on her, and turned her around, laying her arms crossed on the floor.

- That's enough! he commanded her.

This left Rey speechless, and she suddenly seemed to stop breathing. Eyes wide open, she stared at Poe and tears began to flow again. Her face turned into a mask of pain. Poe felt that she could no longer resist, despair had won her.

- Rey ... I'm sorry but you can not help him. You are too weak, you do not have to fight.

- Poe ... I beg you ... Go help him.

Poe nodded and got up, took out his blaster from his holster, and left. As he walked away, he heard her blow him.

- Poe, bring him back to me please.
