Just a little piece of history and more because, decidedly, I like these characters too much and I imagined so much that scene that I wanted to share it with you. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing it.

Rey sighed. From day to day the clothes became more difficult to put on, and she did not feel comfortable in the dresses that she had been advised. It was a long time ago when she could put on her traditional outfit that she loved so much.

Her empire waist dress, in ivory cotton, reveal her belly of a pregnant wife from five months. She had insisted that a gray tie under her bosom would hold the gray linen she loved so much. With them, she still felt a little bit her. The three-quarter sleeves gave the dress a slightly less distinguished appearance than if it had been with wide straps, which had been proposed to her at first. Kaydel had tried to convince her that with the heat, she should come to but Rey had never liked to discover herself.

Even the simple lifting of her hair into a simple bun was energetic and made her sweat with the wetness of Naboo. She was only halfway through her pregnancy, and knew the rest of the way would be long.

She looked at herself in the mirror. She lingered on her face, which seemed sad. Again.
Since the battle of Kabal 1, she had lost her energy. Everything required a considerable effort. And just getting up was getting painful.

At least, in her sleep, she dreamed. She found Ben, she relived their happy moments. It was war, but it was the happiest time of her life. And she felt like she could feel him, she would be able to touch him. Sometimes she relived their last look, and she woke up screaming. So she felt him, really, by her side. She would have liked to see him, as she had seen Luke, but she never saw him. And she cried again and again.

Here on Naboo where she had been staying for three days, it was easier. Because when she woke up, she could get up and walk, get some fresh air on the balcony. And she could do it alone. On board the cruiser, it was more complicated. The thin walls of the cabins left her almost no privacy. And many times she had heard Poe knock on her door and come and comfort her. She accepted it, she sometimes even found comfort, but often she was ashamed of her.

The new general, Moyra Vazhaaf, had entrusted Rey with a diplomatic mission: to rally a maximum of systems still devoted to the cause of the First Order to the republic in formation. In this context, Rey did not have the right to appear weak. She had to be smiling and available. Poe had protested against this appointment, arguing that Rey would need rest and especially to mourn. But the popularity in Rey's galaxy was unparalleled, and at that moment of weakness the brand-new republic needed her. That's why Rey accepted.

She was ashamed as well because she was not the only one to have lost a loved one. Virtually everyone on board had lost a parent, a friend. And all gave themselves body and soul for the cause.

Rey sighed again and decided to leave her room. She was exhausted after the day of debate that had taken place in the royal chamber of Naboo. About sixty systems were represented, and the host planet of this peace conference was chosen because of its political neutrality. The goal was to bring out the final status of the republic that would soon be constituted, its capital, and so many other complicated points that Rey paid little attention.

She smiled, but her mind was elsewhere. It was what she would do next, when her child would be born. And where she would like to settle. How would she call him if it was a girl, if it was a boy. Would he look like Ben, this baby? And would she be able to be a good mother, who remembered so little about her mother?

The spirit still clouded by these questions, she went out and went to take a few steps along the green banks of the lake. She suddenly heard the rapid clatter of a droid running behind her.
