(Christie's pov)
I wake up so terribly. My dad haunts me day and night. It seems like he never leaves. The flashbacks follow me everywhere. It hurts like hell. I squeeze Justin's arm until his eyes flutter open. He has such tired eyes.
"Baby, are you ok?" Bags underlined his golden brown eyes.
"Yeah, just a bad thought." Mentally waving it off, I release my hold on his arm; then he stretches exhaustedly, yawning as he slides off the bed.
"You wanna go get some breakfast?" Justin's still wearing his black hoodie, and his caramel locks stick out from his head.
"Yeah," I stand up beside him, then step into the bathroom, where I can freshen up for the day.
Once I finish my morning routine, I let Justin go into the bathroom to freshen up as well. As I wait, I decide to go into the other room. All three of Justin's friends are talking until they see me.
"Hey Christie."
"Hey sweetie."
"What's up, Chris?"
They all greet me at the same time.
"Uhm, hi," I wave awkwardly. I don't really hang out with Justin's friends enough to have any type of friendship with them.
"Is Justin still in there?" Za points to our room as Ryan pops open a can of Coke.
"Yeah," I nod, twirling my hair between my fingers.
"C'mere, how you doin?" Ryan asks politely, setting down his soda.
"Good." More comfortably, I step closer to them.
"You want a donut? Just bought them a few minutes ago," Khalil offers me while opening the donut box.
"Sure." Eating in front of people doesn't feel as intimidating as I thought. I'm less tense about it, so that's why I accept the donut.
"Aye Justin. Good morning," Ryan's eyes glance behind me, so I turn around to see a tired-looking Justin sauntering my way.
"Morning—Oh sweet, you got donuts!" Justin instantly takes a donut, tearing a bite out of it. I giggle before he leaves a vanilla glazed kiss on my cheek.
"Oh, I've got a date tonight," Za beams excitedly. It makes me smile.
"Oh yeah, let me know how that goes for you, bro," Justin pats his shoulder in support.
"Is it ok if I miss our meet up tonight?" Za takes another donut.
"Yeah, that's no problem" Khalil waves it off carelessly, like it's no big deal.
"Thanks bro," Za grin, and Justin grasps my hand before leading me out the front door.
"You look beautiful today," Justin compliments me, causing me to blush. Chuckling lowly, he kisses me before stepping on the sidewalk. He's walking crookedly, not in a steady direction. Maybe he's tired or something.
"Is Starbucks good?" His arm around my shoulders warms me up, despite the powerful New York wind.
"Yeah," I fit my hand inside the sleeve of his hoodie, so I can clasp my finger around his.
"Then that's what you'll get," he squeezes my hand in return, then opens the door for me into Starbucks.
-2pm-
Justin's been acting strange all day. He says he's alright, but I can tell something's bothering him. I just don't want to keep asking, because he might get pissed. His temper is short, and I've experienced the downside of it. I'd hate to live through it again.
"Hey babe." I hear Justin call as we walk past the dog park for the millionth time. We've been walking around the park and talking since we left Starbucks.
"Yeah?" I turn to him, catching sight of his foggy eyes.
"C'mere, I have a surprise for you." His hand holds mine securely as he pulls me across the street to a chocolate shop. It's full of chocolates and truffles of all kinds. The doorbell rings behind us when we enter, and a lady with lavender hair beams at us.
"Hi, how are you two doing today?" she asks amicably, glancing from me to Justin.
"Good," I smile kindly at her.
"Pick any kind you want, babe. It doesn't matter how many." Justin's huge hand positions lightly against the small of my back. Biting my lip, I pick a dark chocolate, white chocolate, and even the two combined. Justin orders a few white chocolates and a raspberry chocolate. Plus, a vanilla and strawberry cake pop for later. The total adds up to $50! Who knew chocolate could be so expensive! But Justin easily pays for it, and we sit at a small table by the windows. I only eat one, since sweets give me more anxiety than regular food.
"Thank you, Justin." I hug him tightly, sinking my hands into his thick hoodie, and he hugs back.
"No problem, baby." His soft lips press gently against my hair, sending shivers down my spine.
