Safe House

Chapter 10:

Natalie's Perspective

   Mom and Dad said something about me. I was wondering why we had to leave. I am sitting on my bed in the safe house on my phone trying to figure out what happened.

I was ready to go home, but it looks like we're gonna be at the safe house for awhile. I have my own room at the safe house and a bunch of clothes so we don't have to pack anything when we leave from the apartment. I have a tooth brush, toothpaste basically everything I have at the apartment.

The thing about the safe house is that it's underground, and nobody can trace us. On the outside, the safe house just looks like an abandoned Amity garden house, and that's what it is to the Amity but really there's a whole house down here.

The training room was a cover-up, in case anybody discovered it. The garage is locked away about a story above us, and you have to type in a code to get in the house. You can't see the garage or the house from the training room.

You also have to type in a code to get into the garage and into the training room. We have no T.V. down here because somebody could pick up the signal from it, and track us. We can use our phones, but keep the signal off. Which means I can't call or text.

We can only use the 'home' phones because it doesn't use a signal, it uses solar power. There's a solar panel on the roof, which doesn't use a signal. So, basically we all disappear from the outside world and don't exist anymore. Unless somebody's looking for you.

The safe house doesn't look nasty or anything. It looks like a normal house, but without windows. We have a kitchen with solar powered appliances, and a generator for when the sun's not out. I've only been down here once, and that was to have a sleep over with Mariah when I was 10. It was super fun. We have a lot food.

Other than no cell signals, this place is pretty awesome. We have bathrooms and stuff, so we're not peeing in a hole in the ground. I hear Mom and Dad walking down the steps, and I run to them.

    "What's wrong?" I say crossing my arms. "Lets sit down." says Dad. We walk to the couch and I sit on my gun. I take it out of my pocket, and put the safety on. "Don't freak out." says Mom.

Is she pregnant? I doubt it. They haven't been alone long enough. "Okay." I say. "You have the ability to shoot fire out of your hands." says Mom.

    "Blue fire!" says Dad. What in the heck are they talking about? I stare at my hands. They look fine to me. "What? That's just.....what?" I say.

    "You are the only one in existence who has this power." says Mom. I spread my hand out, and nothing happens. "No I don't." I say. "Your powers should get here in about 2 days." says Dad. "Like a period?" I say. Dad clamps his hand over his mouth to keep from laughing.

    "Kind of, but you'll have that power all the time. Not for a week every month." says Mom as she takes my hand and holds it. I haven't gotten my period, but the fire power thing seems better.

    "Wait, this is just crazy! How?" I say. "When you were a baby, the doctor tried a serum on you for that." says Dad. "And you just let them do that!?" I say. "No, we didn't want to, but they lied to us about it." says Dad. I stand up.

Powers? How could I have something like that? Mom stands up and takes my hand. "Nobody can know about this. We'll have to talk to the doctor about this and how it works, and stuff like that." says Mom.

    "So I'm basically the most dangerous preteen on the planet?" I say. Dad laughs. "Yes, and you are fierce." he says. No, no, no! What? Fire? What if that's just expected? What if there's more to it? Gosh, why? I put my hand on my forehead and walk into my room.

    "You need to rest! I'll get you some water and cut you some fruit." says Mom. I shut the door and plop myself on my bed.

Powers. Nope, I don't have them. I don't have them. I DO NOT have them!

This chapter was super short, I know. I just really wanted to get this in! Hope you guys are liking it, because I plan on making this story really long! Don't forget to vote and comment! :)
