Chapter 17:

Natalie's Perspective

Peter stares at me with cold eyes. He keeps his gun fixed on me as I clench my fists into my palm. One time, I was at the Candor Compound with Uncle Will, and Peter saw us.

He was talking to Uncle Will, but I doubt it was a nice conversation. Plus, Peter kept his eyes fixed on me the whole conversation with Uncle Will.  I don't know how he knew who I was, but it scared me a little bit, because the way he was staring at me was like a predator staring into the eyes of its prey.

"So, I hear you killed Eric." he says smirking. I don't know who Eric is, but I assume my Dad knew him when he said he always wanted to see him cry.

The thought makes me sick. All I know is that Eric was gonna shoot me in front of my Dad, and I had to do something."I guess I did." I say.

"I also heard you almost died in a water tank. Man, would I have loved to see that." he says. "You probably did." I reply, my fists digging into the skin on my palm. I still don't know exactly who the other masked man was, but considering the smug look on his face, he probably was.

"I didn't know this place was so nice." he says his eyes wondering around the room, but somehow it still feels like his eyes are still seeing in to me.

"Yeah, it was my Dad's back then, after his initiation. He just added more room in it when I was 5." I say stroking the coffee table next to the door.

"Huh, I never knew where Tris went after I hung her over the chasm." he says staring back at me. I remember when Dad told me that story. He had a lot of interesting stories to tell me. All of those things happened before I was born.

And I wish I was there to see all the good things happen. But I might not even live to tell any stories to my children. "Yeah, you were pretty jealous of her. Or did you like her?" I say.

He laughs a deep laugh. "No, I wasn't jealous. I didn't like her either. And I didn't need some Stiff ranked over me." he says. He's getting mad. "You couldn't stand that she was ranked first, so you decided to try and eliminate her so you'd be first, and some kind of Dauntless legend." I say. His grip on the gun tightens.

"Yeah, something like that." he says. I don't want to talk about it anymore. "Why do you want me dead?" I say. I choke on the word 'dead'. "Oh, it's not because you're a product of two people I hate, if that's what you're thinking. Our leader wants you dead because Jeanine gave you some kind of ability, and he doesn't want something like you around to destroy our new way of life." he says. He.

"What? I'm not destroying it. Your leader is the one destroying everything, trying to find me, while in the process scared the heck out of the Amity, and corrupted the Erudite!" I yell banging my fist on the coffee table. He laughs.

"No, if your parents didn't approve of that serum crap, you wouldn't be running all over the place burning everything in your way!" he shouts. "That's what you think happened!?! My parents were lied to about the serum! They didn't know anything about it until Jeanine told them about it! I've only hurt people that try to hurt the people I love!" I scream at him.

This whole time, I thought Jeanine was the real enemy, but she just wanted to study how my powers worked. "You are a very good liar." says Peter. Peter was sent by somebody-his leader to come get me. "I'm not lying." I say. "Yes you are." he says coldly.

"So much for being Candor....." I mumble. Why am I speaking to this moron? Clearly he came here to bring me to his "leader".  "I'm done talking." I say, and run down the hall. I hear multiple gun shots shooting at me, and I turn the corner and run past the chasm. I hear the pang of the bullets hitting the metal railing of the chasm.

They are missing me so easily. I'm not even dodging the bullets. I run past a water fountain and run towards the exit. The corridors of the Dauntless Compound have never been so loud. The loud foot steps of the men, the bullets hitting stone and metal, and my heart beat.

I swing open the door and run for the train tracks. I hear someone yell my name, and I turn back to see that it's my Dad shooting some of the men running after me. I don't stop running, and run towards the tracks. I need a gun. Keep running. I have the flame thing, but I might not be able to kill them and they'll send more men after me. I run on the gravel and my feet ache from running barefoot.

I had shoes on, but the men clearly removed them when they threw me in the tank. I run as fast as I can, and ignore how bad my feet hurt. Dad is yelling my name and I turn back to see him in Dauntless clothes. I don't see the train, and I'm wondering if Peter shut the train down.......

I hear the horn. I keep running until I step on something sharp. I jump up and yell in pain, but keep running. The men are catching up to me, and I feel a sharp pain in my thigh.

I fall down and a bunch of arms grab mine, and throw me around. I do the only thing I know I can do. I light myself, and the men drop me to the ground. The gravel digs into my back. More bullets hit me and all I feel is pain.

I feel the bullets melt inside of me, and my Dad screams for me, but other men grab him and he falls to the ground as I hear more guns go off. And everything goes dark.

Okay, so I made Natalie and Tobias get shot. Sorry! I don't have much to say right now, so all I can say is, Don't forget to vote and comment! :)
