Whatever pulled me down, must've changed its mind and brought me back up. When it did, it didn't even give me enough time to breath before it lied me on a piece of driftwood then covering both of us with a sheet.

It was dark and I couldn't see much but the figure drifting on wood next to me. It was mom!

"Mom!" I screamed. She covered my mouth and shushed me.

"Be quiet and drift like you're lifeless". She said. "If you move or be too loud it could draw attention". She removed her hand from my mouth.

"Where have you been?" I whispered.

"At Fort Pierce". She whispered. "I used the lifeboat to get there". " I'm sorry I didn't tell any of you about me escaping but if too many of us left, Jack would track us down for sure". "I know  I made it look like I abandoned you all but I'd never do that".

"What did you do at Fort Pierce?" I asked.

"Ya know, allot of shopping". I snorted and rolled my eyes. Glad she still has a sense of humor. "I went and found a nice hummer". "Hummers are like forts with wheels". "No matter how many demons get infront of it, it'll still power through". "I parked it in the bushes on the bigger side of Florida".

"Shouldn't we just hijack a boat from the fort and live at sea with the others?" I asked.

"Leola, I'm sorry but the plan to live at sea isn't a good idea anymore". "Think about it, if there are enough of those men to have boats across the inlet, there are probably dozens more out at sea". "The ocean isn't safe, we'll have to find a way to survive on land".

I didn't like that plan at all. "But...that's impossible-

"Not if the group sticks together". She said. "But first, I gotta bust you all out of here".

And if your mom comes back, which I doubt, she'll try to play hero and get herself killed.

Dammit Tyreese, and maybe he was right but I have to have faith in my mom.

"How are you gonna get us out?" I asked.

"At night, one by one I'll sneak you guys out". I shook my head.

"No mom, that's not really a good plan". " I bet there are guards at night that block the way to land anyway".

Suddenly, I got a very brilliant plan, but it was dangerous to put in action tho.

"Mom, I have a plan". "It only involves you as a get away driver".

"Ok, let me in on it". Mom said.

"I can't right now". "I just need you to be in the woods with the Hummer ready tomorrow at noon". "Not too far, but far enough where those pirates won't catch you".

"Pirates?"

"Yeah, yeah, anyway, the rest is up to me".

"Ok, good luck Leola, and tell the family that I didn't leave".

"Ok".

Mom sunk into the water but rose back up. "Love you Lily'Ola". She smiled. This time, the name didn't erk me. I smiled back.

"I love you too".

Mom sunk back into the water and swam away. I threw the blanket off of me and was almost blinded by sunlight. I would've called for help but I remember what they did to the lifeboat when it was looking for help.

Instead, I swam back to the yacht. As soon as I climbed aboard, I was approached by Mark.

"Its about time you came back".  He hissed. "I was starting to wonder why you were under that blanket for so long". "The others told me you fell into the water like a clumsy fool, we don't need that on the crew...give me a reason I shouldn't put a bullet in your head and throw you over board".
