The farm was beautiful! Vegetables and fruits grew in the fields, that food could last for years! A big house sat under the shade of a tree with moss drooping above the roof. There was a swing set full of kids behind the house. This looked like a haven!
The truck came to a stop and everyone got out. Adam came to me and took my hand.
"You should really meet my pa, he'll get you two settled in". He led me and Ozzie onto the porch of the house. Two Spanish men sat in rocking chairs and eyed me and Ozzie carefully.
"Pa, come out I brought new people!" Adam screamed while he banged on the door. Adam stepped back as the door opened.
Out came a six foot man maybe in his late 40s. He was pot bellied wearing pajamas and cotton slippers. He didn't look like Adam but they had the same eyes. He was completely bald and had a great big friendly smile on his face.
"We'll look what the Lord has brought us here today!" He happily barked with his country accent. "My name is Hudson!"
"Hi, I'm Leola". I said holding my hand out for a shake. Instead of shaking my hand, Hudson went and gave me a great big spine crushing hug. Like literally, spine crushing. He just undid all the work Yael did on my back.
Hudson finally put me down. "And who's this little one?" He asked looking at Ozzie. Ozzie yelped and hid behind my legs.
Instead of giving her a killer hug, Hudson reached in his pocket and gave her a small bag of candy. Ozzie gasped and took it.
"I'm Ozzie, and thank you". She said opening the bag with her teeth.
"Come in, come in!" He chanted leading us inside the house.
The inside was nice and cozy. Like your average family farmhouse.
"Y'all two wait here, I'm gonna head upstairs and get y'all some cleaner clothes". Hudson said.
He left us at the bottom of the steps. I realized that there are allot of pictures of Jesus on their walls. I'm guessing these people are really strong Christians. That's probably why every single one of them had a necklace with the cross on it.
"Here ya go!" Hudson said coming down the stairs. He handed us our clothes.
They were too big for us and looked like boy clothes. "They used to be Adam's". Hudson said. "You guys should wear them intill I get done washing your clothes-that is, if you don't mind".
I remembered about the nasty zombie blood stain on the back of my pants. "Yeah, we would like that".
"Good, you should get changed in the basement, that's where you'll be sleeping tonight".
I didn't even know if we were sleeping here tonight. But then again, what choice do we have?
"Right", I said nodding my head. I turned on my heel and headed down the basement with Ozzie behind me.
The basement was big and cozy too but smelled like feet. Blankets were spread out on the floor and I realized that this is were that Spanish family must sleep. Some of the family was still in the room sleeping or playing cards. There seemed to be allot of them.
Adam and Jonah were down here laughing and smiling looking really happy. They must be really good friends.
They noticed us and stopped as if they weren't suppose to smile around us.
"There's a bathroom yall can change in". Adam said.
"Leo". Ozzie called. "Who's that guy on all these pictures?"
