Walking in this heavy rain sucked. My hair was seriously itchy, I was cold, my feet hurt, and Josh wouldn't stop messing with me.
Only good things was that I had a full stomach and Ozzie was happy, well, Ozzie and Hailey.
They saw this storm as a game. They laughed, played and splashed in every puddle they saw. Hopefully, they won't get sick. I didn't mind them but they just needed to quiet down.
We all walked in a line. Steve in front, then Simon, me, Josh and Hailey and Ozzie to our sides. We all walked on the sidewalk up a giant hill.
"Keep moving, we'll be there!" Steve yelled over the rain. His cane was helping him walk.
"Bet you had to walk in rain when I left your sorry ass on the road". Josh said towards me. I ignored him and kept walking.
"Tell me sweetie, loss anyone dear to you lately?" He added. "I'm not talking about that faggot I shot". "Yeah, that's right, I saw the bracelet in his hand, threw that junk in the trash".
I growled. How dare he talk about Jonah like that. Simon said he was sorry about it but evidently he's not. And if he calls me sweetie one more time-
Dirty water splashed all over Josh. I laughed.
It was Hailey who accidentally splashed the water. He quickly turned to her and grabbed her wrist. Josh raised her up to where her feet were far from touching the ground.
"When we get to the house, we're gonna have a "talk"". Josh said angrily.
"No!" Hailey cried scared out of her life.
"Well you should've thought of that before you got me wet!" He boomed.
"But you were already wet!" Hailey pleaded.
Josh squeezed her wrist (which will bruise later) then dropped Hailey on her back into the dirty puddle. She cried on impact but then tried to hold it in. Ozzie helped her up then brought her into a hug.
"You don't get to do that!" I yelled to Josh. "You're not her father!"
"And you're not mine!" Josh shouted. There's something about angry Josh that always made people tremble, even me. I backed off but didn't let it go.
"You shouldn't be putting you're hands on her!" I added. Josh growled at me then took another sip of alcohol. "Steve, Simon help me out here".
Steve and Simon looked my way. "Quiet down, you'll bring zombies". Simon said. They both turned back around. I was speechless, how could they leave me out to dry like that!
Josh laughed at me then pushed out his way. He walked ahead catching up with Steve and Simon. I turn to Hailey who was holding Ozzie's hand.
"Are you ok?" I asked squatting down next to her.
"Yeah I'm fine!" She said happily with a big smile. She was just crying...and now she's ok...?
The whole group kept walking. We passed some zombies and ended up killing a few but that's all the action we've have. I'm glad about that. Then, we came across a apartment complex. Tall large gates surrounded the hole thing protecting it from zombies. Steve approached it and pulled out a key unlocking and opening the gate. "Welcome to the complex". He said holding the gate open for everyone.
"Race you to the door". Hailey said towards Ozzie.
"That's too easy". Ozzie replied. Both of them started running across the parking lot.
"Be careful!" I called after them.
"Don't worry, zombies can't get in this complex". Simon said. "The gates keep us protected".
