Just a servant? (Merthur)

Merlins POV

"MERLIN!!!" Could be heard from across the castle from the prat Prince Arthur who thought I was at his beck and call. Well I kind of am but that's not the point.

I grabbed the white shirt and ran towards the Princes chambers nearly falling over multiple times on my journey there. I turned a corner and bumped into the Is and only Arthur.

"Merlin where have you been? I have been shouting you for hours!!" He wined snatching his shirt from me inspecting it then passing me it back.

"You shouted me once and I was at the other side of castle like you asked me to be" I said then heard a gasp to my left. I turned to see a young female maid who was staring at Arthur then she seemed to realise what she was doing then blushed and ran away. I frowned confused at the whole ordeal whilst Arthur was smirking looking proud of himself.

"Wow the ladies really do love me" He joked grabbing my shoulder and pulling me next to him as we began walking to his chambers.

"Whatever you say prat" I waved him off laughing when he shoved me into his room smiling.

We both stopped joking around when we saw Uther sat at Arthur's table glaring at me. I stood up straight and bowed.

"Sire" I said in respect bowing then stood up straight and began attending my duties I had not yet done. I cursed myself for not tiding sooner as the room was a mess. I began picking up clothing and pans and organising them into Arthur's wardrobe as Uther spoke to Arthur.

"Arthur why do you continue to embarrass me, yourself and this kingdom by acting as thought you're friends with this manservant? He is nothing more than a servant and that is it" Uther stated firmly making me flinch as I folded Arthur's tunic.

"I know Father, I simply mean to make myself more presentable to the court by showing kindness to all" Arthur replied seeming like he has rehearsed the entire speech. I tired to blink away the tears currently beginning to appear in my eyes as I walked passed them and towards the fire to light it back up as it had gone out. I felt Arthur's gaze upon my back as I passed the table and bent down to light the fire but I made no effort in returning his gaze.

"Very well I understand why now Arthur I shall retire to my chambers and I will see you at the evening banquet tonight at dusk" Uther said not waiting for a reply as he excited the room leaving behind an uncomfortable silence.

"Merlin?" Arthur questioned coming towards me as I finally managed to light the fire. I didn't reply to him as I stood and made a move to go back over to his bed when I felt a hand on my forearm.

"Merlin..." He began again but I beat him to it.

"Leave it Arthur just let me be a servant and nothing more" I said trying to hold in a sob as I tried to pry my arm away from Arthur. Just as I got my arm free I felt two large hands on my waist grab me and push me backwards so my arse was pressed against the table and Arthur was situated in front of me.

"Merlin listen to me you know that's not true" Arthur stated firmly tightening his grip on my waist as if to prove a point. Once again I never responded leaving Arthur anxious and scared as to what was going on inside my head.

"Merlin tell me you believe me please" Arthur let out his voice going croaky at the end. I finally lifted my head up and met his gaze where I instantly believed him from the look in his eyes.

"I believe you" I sighed telling the truth as Arthur smiled before bringing in for a deep passionate kiss. I felt my knees go weak and was hit with a serious case of butterflies in my stomach as I kissed back with just as much passion.

"Don't ever believe different ok ?" Arthur said resting his forehead on mine after he pulled away.

"Ok" I smiled bringing him in for a hug.
