Another mission Part 5(Charlie Higson books)

Aiden's POV

It's been nearly a month since my injury and my leg has almost healed it still aches slightly when I've been using it a lot but other wise I'm nearly back to brand new. We've been scoping out our surrounding areas around our camp to see what kids were around us and forming alliances with them. A lot of the other kids also have a profound hatred towards David at the palace and are staying clear of him.
Einstein has been using my blood a lot more recently asking for larger dosages to help find out about the disease and see if they can find a cure.

"Aiden you're needed at the gates" Paddy shouted to me carrying one of Achilleus's spears around. I ran down the stairs and headed outside to see a group of kids helping Achilleus inside who was bleeding from his head.

"Akkie!!" I shouted and ran over to him to see what was wrong. They shut the gates behind them and I placed my hands on the sides of his face turning his head to the side to see a large cut on his head.

"I'm okay" He grunted not letting on how much this actually hurt in case he looked weak.

"What happened?" I asked them as I put his arm across my shoulders and helped him to the medical bay.

"Sickos they came at us and Achilleus saved us but one of the sickos we killed wasn't dead and grabbed his leg and he fell and hit his head" One of the kids explained and I signalled for him to leave. I got him up the stairs with difficulty and made it to the front doors where I shout Maxie for help.

"Maxie!!" I shouted her over and she came running concerned for Achilleus's well-being.

"What happened?" She asked as she took his left side and he groaned.

"Kids being idiots, Akkie saved them then he got pulled down and hit his head" I explained as we rounded the corner and finally made it to the medical bay.

"Oh shit" Achilleus groaned as we set him down on the bed.

"Millie get over here and fix him, Akkie I'll be back in a bit" I shouted and left the room heading outside to shout at the kids who caused this.

"Who went outside the gates?" I shouted as I made it outside and stood in front of the guard team.

"Who!!" I shouted again when nobody answered.

"We did" Two kids stepped forward their heads hung low.

"Why?" I snarled as I tired to keep a cap on my anger and not scare them but it wasn't working to well.

"We saw a group of sickos and we wanted to get rid of them, show people that we can do our job" They small red haired boy stated.

"You could've been killed, you almost got Achilleus killed! Don't ever go outside these walls without backup and proper training" I said firmly and they nodded along with everyone else still stood where I left them as I retreated. I headed back inside but before I could make my way back to Achilleus Blue called my name.

"Aiden we need you for a meeting" Blue said nodding his head for me to follow him. I sighed and nodded my head following him up the stairs and down the long corridor to the big seating area where most meetings where held. I went in and sat behind Blue and Maxie as we waited for everyone to enter and for Justin to start. I began shaking my leg as I was irritated and impatient as I just wanted to go back to see Achilleus.

"I've called you all here because Einstein needs a group of warriors to escort him to find science supplies. We are in desperate need of more supplies in order to carry out our research which we are progressing in due to the blood from Aiden" Justin spoke and I leaned forward so Blue and Maxie could here.

"Whatever it is I'm down okay I need to go see Achilleus" I whispered and Blue held his hand up to signal for me to wait a minute. I sat back and shook my leg up and down more obeying Blues request and waiting.

"Blue will be leading the mission so he can take it from here" Justin said and sat down as Blue stood up.

"I want a small but elite team of good fighters we don't need any more than necessary. Aiden that's we're you come in, I want you to lead it with me" He said looking back at me and I nodded my head.

"You know I'm already with you" I stated not even thinking about not going. If they needed me I was there no questions asked.

"Will Achilleus be going?" Einstein asked from his seat next to Justin.

"No he won't" I spoke crossing my arms. "He's got a real bad concussion he ain't coming and no body tell him what's happening till we've left or he will want to come" I stated and everyone agreed not wanting to lose one of their best fighters they had.

The meeting carried on for another 15 painfully slow minutes discussing what was going to happen, who was coming and the route we was going to take before finally we could leave. As soon as it was done I patted Maxie and Blue on the shoulder before racing up to the medical bay to see Achilleus. When I got there he was asleep with a huge bandage wrapped around his head.

"He alright?" I asked Hook as I entered the room and he nodded as he was putting some cloths in the bin.

"He's fine just a bad concussion he's going to need to be on bed rest for a few days before he can start moving but even then not much movement" He explained and I nodded expecting as such.

I went over and pulled up a stool to sit on and grabbed his hand. I didn't want to leave without telling him but I knew once I told him he wouldn't let me leave without him. I let out a deep breath then stood up walking over to Millie.

"When he wakes tell him I've gone on a mission with Blue to go past Headrow and find science supplies and I will be back when I'm back" I told her and she nodded her head smiling at me. I told her I would try and gather some more medical supplies whilst I was out as well as they were running low and no doubt in desperate need of some.

I gathered everything I was going to need and headed down to meet the team in front of the main doors as agreed in the meeting. When I got there Blue and Maxie were in an embrace and she didn't look to pleased.

"You better come back" She said before they pulled apart when I got there.

"You too" She said pointing her finger at me before smiling. I smiled at her and opened my arms for her to hug me and she opened her mouth in a sarcastic surprise face.

"Are you letting me hug you?" She asked as she came into my arms and hugged me.

"Oh I'm going to cherish this forever" Maxie said making me laugh as I pulled away.

"Shut up" I said playfully shoving her backwards. She smiled once again before moving back to the rest of the kids.

"You ready?" Blue asked coming to stand next to me as we stood in the front of the crew.

"Oh you know I'm ready" I said swinging my spear around and jumping up and down on the balls of my feet.

"Right right I keep forgetting you're psychotic" Blue said laughing as I gasped fake offended.

"Wow that really hurt my feelings see now I'm crying" I joked pulling a sad face and pretending to cry. Blue ruffled my hair and shoved me to the side as we both laughed trying to forget what was potentially waiting ahead of us.

I've just finished reading this series and it was by far the best book series I've ever read and I'm hella sad that I've finished it.
