War

24 11 8

I stood right there

In that wasteland

Heart gripped with fear

As I saw blood

Everywhere

Drip... drop...

They kept falling

Without a stop

Death comes slow,

Death comes swift

As the arrows rain

Bringing pain

War, it rages

We will live on

In yellowed pages

Long after we're gone

That gave us hope,

That one day,

We will remain

In the memories

Of the young and old

They'll recount tales

Of us, brave and bold

Fighting our fights

Stories shall be told

Under stars, near fires

That blaze white and red

Our women, they cry,

Many a tear shed

As we will lay, one day,

On the Earth, dead

But we fight this war

For our home, our hearth

A million days,

A million nights,

A million moments

Of never ending battles

That drag on and on

Even in the coldest

And darkest storms

We shall stay strong

At nights we cease

The fights, and sigh

As we feel the breeze

Cold on our backs

We shiver, we freeze

And we recount

And we remember

The laughter, the songs

The bright lights of lamps

The children's pranks

The mother's warmth

The father's stories

And last but not least

We remember her

And her sweet fragrance

The stunning smiles

Ah, heart, it aches

As we never know

If we'll see her again

For, the next day dawns

And dragging swords

And holding shields,

We shout out our rage

An echo of sounds

Shrill war cries

Vibrates on the ground

As we charge forward

Blood all around

It makes one shiver

But we'll fight on

And on and on

For this is war...
