Little blue bird, little blue bird,
Don't be so sad,
I'll take care of you,
Make sure you won't feel bad
Little blue bird, little blue bird,
Please don't cry,
I'm here for you,
To rub away till your tears dry
Little blue bird, little blue bird,
Why are you hiding away?
I can never hurt you,
I just want to play
Little blue bird, little blue bird,
I am unable to understand
I give you all you want,
But you're still scared of my hand
Little blue bird, little blue bird,
Please let me hold you close
You'll be safe in my arms
Its true, everyone knows
Little blue bird, little blue bird,
What is it that you want?
I'm trying to get to know you,
But however hard I try, I can't
Little blue bird, little blue bird,
Now I know that you want to fly
Because you look out sad and wistfully
At the other birds in the sky
Little blue bird, little blue bird,
All this time I had thought of me,
But now, smile, as I open your cage,
And finally set you free...
This poem is a metaphor for relationships that make you feel suffocated, that make you feel that you are in some kind of cage. There is one person who is controlling the relationship, and the other person has to listen to everything the person in control says. That's wrong. They should realize that everyone has a freedom to choose, a freedom to form their own opinion.
This is also inspired by my overprotective parents, sometimes the rules are hard to obey and you only want to be free. But freedom... it's really hard for me to find.
Did you like the poem?
Also, the bird in the image is a kingfisher, one of my favorite birds.
