   FLASHBACK

"W-what do you mean, removed from Garrison?" Ash stuttered, trying to grasp the situation. The dean turned around to face her and Keith, her childhood friend.

"Your disciplinary folder looks like a novel, and this is the absolute last straw! Sneaking out of your dorms at night?" he questioned. He raised an eyebrow, suggesting something that never happened.

"You're disgusting," Keith muttered, rolling his eyes. The dean turned his back towards them and walked to his desk.

"Security will see you out," he mumbled under his breath. Ash suddenly felt a pair of hands grip her arms on either side. She threw her head back to look at them. Sure enough, security was there, carrying them both out.

She scrambled in the hallways, calling out random nonsense, anything to get them to let her go.

"Heal! Release! Jesus anything you thugs listen to!" she scrambled for words. Keith was silent. Occasionally he would glance at her to make sure she was okay, but didn't struggle against the guards.

Eventually, they reached the doors, and were tossed out. After the doors closed, Ash froze, tears threatening to spill down her cheeks. She felt a hand rest itself on her back, she looked upwards to see Keith kneeling down next to her, giving her a sad smile.

                                                                                      *******

Ash was laying on the small couch, the only sitting item they had in regards to the beds. She was using Keith's abdomen as a pillow. To anyone else, this would seem like a couple thing. Laying in silence, listening to each other's breathing, their minds wandering. But to Ash and Keith, this was an average day. They had nobody else.

"Hey, sunset," Keith stated, pointing lazily to the window. Ash sat up slowly, gazing out the window.

"Never gets old," she whispered. She smiled down to Keith, who returned the smile. After the incident of them getting thrown out of Garrison's, it took Ash awhile to calm down over the event. Eventually realizing it was their loss, she had allowed herself to become happy living with Keith in their small cabin, letting their days waste away, doing what they wanted, never-ending fun.

Keith had also noticed that Ash had begun acting more like her old self. A rugged, doesn't care what anybody thinks, tomboy. Sure she was shy, but it was more of "I'll murder both you and your family if I don't know you" type shy. She spoke her mind, and was incredibly funny, and maybe slightly annoying.

"Wanna go see it?" she asked giddily, the light coming from the window bouncing off of her pale complexion. Keith shrugged and hoisted himself onto his elbows. Ash swung her legs off of the couch and ran to the door, nearly forgetting to open it in her excitement.

                                                                                    ********

Night had officially fallen, but Ash was still outside. After the sunset every night, she enjoyed stargazing, and often thought to herself that the stars spoke to her. She curled her knees into her chest, the cold beginning to nip at her bare arms and legs. Despite being quite short, Ash had long legs.

Not many guys liked Ash, rather surprisingly to her female friends. Guys did find her attractive, but not many enjoyed her personality, mainly because she was socially pressured into acting more like those "friends" of hers, but apparently something didn't "click" with her acting like that. Kieth had noticed how much happier she seemed, away from her popular friends. Being able to live how she wants and not be judged for it.

Keith approached the door. He went to reach for the knob, but stopped. He turned towards the coat rack, spotting Ash's favorite sweater. An over-sized, maroon, cotton sweater. Next to it was her black beanie. He grabbed both, zipped up his red and white jacket, and exited the cabin.

Slinging the sweater and beanie over his shoulder, he took a leap, and gripped the edge of the roof. Due to his strength, he was easily able to clamber his way onto the roof. Ash's back faced him, her arms cuddling her knees close to her chest. He didn't blame her for being cold, she was in a simple white t-shirt, and black ripped-denim shorts.

Quietly, he made his way over to her, his footsteps echoing into the night. Once he reached the peak of the roof, he slid his way down next to Ash.

Feeling a presence at her side, she turned to see Keith moving into a sitting position. She smiled to herself and turned her gaze back towards the sky.

"Thought you might be cold," he said plainly, handing her the sweater and beanie. She hummed in thanks, pulling the sweater over her head, and covering her cold ears with the beanie.

She crawled in front of Keith, holding her arms out for a hug, smiling giddily, and like an idiot. Chuckling, Keith accepted the hug. They both took in a deep breath, and Ash turned around, her back on Keith's chest.

She used his arms and legs as a shield from the cold, accepting his presence gratefully. She let out a long sigh, her breath billowing in front of her. She enjoyed nights like this. Just her, Keith, and the night.

"Keith-" she began, only to be cut off by a loud boom. Both teenagers whipped their heads in the direction of the noise, a large explosion meeting their gaze. Keith hastily stood up, and offering his hand for Ash. She gripped his hand and stood up quickly.

She scanned Keith's face for any sign of emotion, but found none. He finally turned to her, and nodded. At his nod, Ash ran to the peak of the roof and slid down, landing skillfully on the porch. A thud next to here indicated Keith landed next to her.

They both booked it to the motorcycle, something Keith had been working on ever since they were thrown out of Garrison.

"Think it's really ready?" she whispered, pulling her red and white helmet over her face. Keith flicked on all of the levers, blue screens around the control panel lighting up.

"Nope," he said, popping the 'p.' He flicked on the last switch, the engine roared in response. Ash froze for a minute, his response taking a minute to penetrate her brain. Finally, it made its way through her thick skull.

"WAIT!" she tried calling out, but it was too late. Keith had slammed his foot on the pedal, the machine moving forwards at incredible speed. Ash quickly wrapped her arms around his torso, the wind lashing at the brown and white hair that stuck out of her helmet.
