THE EXOTIC DANCER CHAPTER 002✔ "Hypocritical, but Right"
• S A T U R D A Y M O R N I N G •
Six Thirty Three in the morning is when i finally got off, my feet aching from the night before. I pull off my heels while walking outside the building. I stayed a bit late to wipe down the tables from last night so Max could go home early and get some rest.
I talked to Stephanie and we agreed to begin working in two days.
Tomorrow morning is my shift at the diner. And i have to take Lucy to basketball practice early in the morning as well. So it will be an eventful day.
Walking home, my bare feet hitting the damp sidewalks as i make my way down fourth to the Diner.
I see Cindy wiping down tables and setting the place up. When she finally sees me walking towards her she welcomes me the way she always does. By shooting me a big friendly smile.
It's as if something in her mind clicks at that moment because she takes off, rushing behind the counter. Cindy grabs a white paper bag and walks it over to me. Extra pep in her step this morning.
"Whats got you all happy?" I ask taking the bag from her hands.
"Little George got himself into the little college around here. Were just so excited for him. Not very sure how were gonna pay for it and all but anything for my son. Even if it means another mortgage." She smiles.
I send her a smile back. "That's fantastic. if you need anything don't hesitate to ask me Cindy. We're like family." I say walking to the door.
"Girl i tell you all the time you give to much. Your gonna keep giving till you've got nothing left if you keep this up. What are you working now?" She asks arms crossed like a mother.
"Five hour shifts here on Sunday. I tend bar at Allure every now and then from six or seven to ten. And then from ten on i... you know."
She nods with a small shake of her head. And I know it's not cause she's judging me. It's cause she pity's me.
"I should be the one helping you. You need a babysitter this week? Ill be glad to help out with Lucy. You know i love that child."
"Yeah that would be amazing. Thank you again Cindy. I gotta go get Lucy off to school. But ill call you and we can set something up."
She nods wiping her hands on her apron.
"Tell Joe i said to have a nice day and to get himself away from that damn window." She calls out.
