Monday Morning
Morning comes quicker than I would have wanted but I'm happy for the sleep I did manage to get in before the alarm beside my bed blared in my ear.
I groggily sit up, using my hands to rub my eyes. Slowly adjusting to the light shining through the one window in our room. A deep sigh escaping my lips. Its a deep feeling in the pit of my stomach that I feel at this time in the morning. Almost every morning. I don't want to get up, I don't want to do anything. But I have to.
I stand, my feet hitting the flooring of our room, a small creak escaping from them when I put my pressure on the floor. I stand, slowly making my way over to Lucy's bed. She is still fast asleep, eyes pinched shut. My hands lay on either side of her, giving the small girl a light shake in an attempt to wake her up.
Every morning the same sounds leave her mouth. An annoyed and tired groan is my "good morning" here. I just laugh a bit, pulling myself up and away from her bed knowing that from here she is able to get up and ready on her own.
Lucy sits up in her bed, sending me a small glare before getting out of bed, another groan leaving her lips.
I turn back to her before leaving the room to get my shower. "Don't groan at me kid. I would die to get as much sleep as you just did."
Her eyes drift up, meeting mine before she gives me an annoyed "Yeah yeah yeah"
Acknowledging that she has heard the statement before. I chuckle before stepping into the white bathroom. Flicking the overhead light on. The small room lights up slowly. The bulb flickering before finally illuminating the room.
At first, i thought it was the bulb, but may trips to the store for new ones only proved that its something the apartment itself. I've asked for the landlord to come up and check on the wiring, but I haven't gotten a reply.
At the end of the day, slow lights are the least I have to worry about.
My shower is quick, I let the water fall down my face. The feeling of being inside the shower has always been a calming factor in my life. When I was little, I remember just sitting inside the shower anytime i got worked up. I would let the water run, drenching me.
