THE EXOTIC DANCER CHAPTER 032✔
"Fix Him"
"Why are you back? Jesus Christ Shay you almost gave me a heart attack." Lucy cries out as she nearly falls off of the couch when i walk through the door. I am just as surprised to see her though. She isn't supposed to be here.
"You aren't supposed to be here." I say while laying my bag down upon the table. "I told you to wash up and head next door did i not?"
Before she even has the time to reply i hear a familiar voice spring from the kitchen. "Shailene, you are home early."
Although the day has proven to be an emotional rollercoaster on steroids seeing Joe standing in my kitchen with bowls full of ice cream is definitely the most comforting thing i have seen in the entirety of it.
I let out a deep breath and smile towards him. "I think i need a hug."
Joe laughs a bit, handing one bowl of ice cream off to Lucy while laying the other down on the counter before walking over to me. Quickly bringing me into his arms.
I know for a fact that i could live for 100 years and never meet someone whos hugs are as comforting as Joes. He is the type of person who hugs you and makes you feel as if you just want to release all of your problems and sometimes cry.
I feel like i just want to cry.
He wraps his arms around me and hugs me tight, over his shoulder i can see Lucy digging into her bowl of ice cream while watching us. She seems curious. I don't know about what though.
"How about some ice cream?" he asks, pulling back slightly.
It doesn't take long for me to nod my head and happily accept his offer. Letting my body drop down onto the couch beside my sister who has almost finished her bowl.
"So why are you home so early?" She asks curiously.
To tell her the truth would be to alter her opinion of Max and i don't think it is my place to do such a thing. Whatever is going on between me and him doesn't have anything to do with her. It would be cruel of me to say anything that could affect how she sees him.
I smile. "Max saw i was tired and he thought it would be best if i came home for the night. Lucky right?" I ask, doing my best to hold in the feeling of disgust i have while telling such lies. Especially when it means boosting up a man who basically just fired me for the night. I wonder how long this girls training will last.
