THE EXOTIC DANCER CHAPTER 011✔ "Flashback"
By now its about time to go and get Megan's stuff because even though i have no problem with her staying here, she cant continue to live in my clothes. They are not a proper fit and the girl just needs her own stuff. I think she would feel a lot better if she had it as well.
She called her parents the other night and was told they took a trip our of the country but when they got back she could move back in. They seemed happy to have her back, so im thankful she has people there for her. Im glad she has somewhere to go. I doubt she wants to stay here for the rest of her life.
Going back home and figuring her life out might be what's best for her, and its safer too.
This is yet another reason why she needs her stuff, she can hardly move back home without it.
I told her it would probably be best if she didn't come, but she insisted. Honestly, im kind of glad but again there was no way in hell we were going alone. I know how to handle myself but im also smart enough to know when im outmatched. I know me against Megan's ex would put me in an unsafe place.
So i called Max this morning and asked him to come and help us, he seemed more than happy to do so.
Now we sit in Max's truck on our way to Owens place to retrieve Megan's things.
"So ive been thinking.... With the investment, i get the chance to raise some of your pays." He says, his voice trailing off a bit.
I look over to him and sigh. "What's the problem?" I ask knowing something is up.
He is tapping on the steering wheel with his fingers and avoiding eye contact with me.
Max looks to me and away from the road for a second, trying his best to think over his words.
"Well...i have this girl who is in a bit of a bind right now and could use the extra money. You know i don't have the resources to bring on another girl and pay her so the money to do that has to come from somewhere." He explains.
I bite down on my lip, my chest beginning to feel tight. "And that somewhere is from the raise of one of your girls." I finish.
Max nods. "It just comes down to which one... and you know i would never do it without your say Shailene."
I know....
Max is a bit like me in this sense, trying to help everyone. And if he needs my help to help someone else? Why not?
"She needs the money Max, and lets not forget shes a big reason as to why you even got this investment in the first place. Isnt it a bit unfair that shes the person you ask for money?" Megan speaks up from the back seat.
