THE EXOTIC DANCER CHAPTER 044
"Familiar Eyes"

All the details of the gathering James invited me too came the next afternoon. I felt good enough about Max taking Lucy to school, he seemed to be doing better and he really wanted to do it. To turn him down on such a simple task would make him feel as if i had no faith left in him and that is definitely not the case.

Lucy wanted him to drop her off too anyway and i couldn't let the both of them down.

I know she prefers with max takes her because when people see her get dropped off in his car it makes her feel special. And he always stops to get her food on the way which is an added plus. It was helpful to me anyway, i was actually thankful for it since i had to be at the diner this morning.

Cindy was doing her early morning rounds when i arrived. Wiping down all the tables and putting out the fresh pastries. She had that smile on her face that calmed my heart and made me feel at home. It was a comforting smile even when she wasn't meaning it to be. She was just a happy lady and it showed clearly when you met her.

Although it was pretty early in the morning i was happy to be here, to have a break from everything else. Even if my mind wouldn't let up i could do my best to try and forget about all of the other stressful things that were going on.

We get a good amount of customers in the morning, and when they all start piling in i do my best to lose myself in my work. The morning is pretty full of the basic everyday work things. Nothing i wasn't used to.

You greet the customer cheerfully, even if you aren't feeling very cheerful. You take their drink orders and while you are fetching the drinks they want it gives them time to decide what they want to eat. From there you take those orders and so on.

All day.

Every now and then we would have a spill or a mix up in the kitchen but the problems that happen here and 10x easier to fix than the problems that happen at Allure.

"You look stressed honey." Cindy spoke as she gently pushed a loose strand of hair out of my face and behind me ear. I stood leaned over the back counter chatting with Cindy for a bit while waiting for my order to finish up in the kitchen.

Cindy was acting the the maternal motherly mother she obviously was. Pointing out the bags under my eyes and how tired i seem. As well as the fact that i hadn't spoken to her in a bit which of course gave her a little stir lately.

I'm usually a lot better about keeping in touch so when i don't call or check in when i can she gets a bit worried. I of course apologize for that but i had not had much free time lately. It must have just slipped my mind. Which lately isn't really that difficult to do.
