*LEXI'S POV*
It was two days before the tryouts and I was kind of shitting myself. If I didn't get on the team that time then it would have felt like I'd let Dani and Caleb down, as well as the rest of the team. Gracie would have been disappointed too, she had so much hope for me but there was really no reason to.

Well Gracie hadn't actually spoken to me since whatever the fuck went down at their house. She'd been ignoring me and I had done the same. If she didn't like me then fine, I just needed to get over it but it was hard seeing her when I just wanted to kiss her.

"It's five a side, but we can have up to seven on the bench, a team of twelve," Coach mentioned.

"Well we can't have thirteen players, someone's got to go," Riley announced, aiming that directly at me even though there were two other people trying out that weren't there.

"Well girls, you've got to play for a spot, I can't have you slacking just because you've already got a place, it isn't secure," Coach Shelby insisted that every one of us worked our asses off.

"That's not fair, we already had a spot, shouldn't Lexi just not get on the team," Riley commented.

"You know what, Jeffries, if you think you deserve a spot then you can go against Jones after school tomorrow," Coach Shelby requested and a few cheers were followed.

"That cool with you?" Dani whispered.

"Yeah," I said and smirked, although I wasn't actually feeling very confident.

I was hyped to compete against Riley, if I wanted everyone on the team to like me then I had to try my hardest.

We were just messing about with the ball, having a mini game whilst waiting for Coach. Even though it was just me and Riley playing, the whole team was there to encourage us and I thought that was pretty cool.

Coach was stuck in a meeting so Dani was taking over as coach that day because she was team captain.

"So this is how we're going to do this," Dani shouted, "Jeffries, Jones, you will take it in turns to shoot from different positions and the person with the most baskets wins,"

I nodded, fist pumped Dani then started towards the court.

"Riley up first," Dani announced.

She finished with about the same amount of baskets as missed shots.
Everyone applauded Riley before focusing on me.

"Alright Jones, you're up,"

I was stood by the arc when Dani blew the whistle. Ember passed me a ball, I took a shot which hit the backboard and fell in the rim.

I stepped to the left side and Ember tossed me another ball. I shot the ball and it fell into the rim flawlessly.

On the right side of the basket I shot another but missed. I moved just a little more over and shot and missed again. I did a layup which flew into the rim.

I was on the left side again and Harley passed me a ball that time.
I took a shot and it sailed right through the net.

My last shot I missed but I did a perfect layup which gave me a great finish.

I finished with one more point than Riley which made me feel good. For some reason it felt like a proper game, it was seriously insane but I loved the thrill of everyone watching the ball with so much intensity.
