It was early the next day as Samsul Dergon and Elwin Mercar were being escorted on foot by a few Sinderlo soldiers into an office on a military base. They escorted them into a small room in the base. The room was cold and grey with only a small metal table with a few chairs and a light above it and a small grey door next to them.
"So... This is the only way to talk to the General?" Asked Elwin as she looked around the room.
"Apparently," said Samsul as he sat down.
"It seems a little... Excessive," said Elwin as she slowly sat down.
"I know, can't control it."
"Right..." The door opened and a Sinderlo in a military uniform walked in with a number of badges on his chest. "Detectives... I'm General Viscow," said the Sinderlo.
"Sir," said Elwin as she stood up and saluted him. Samsul stood up and shook his hand as they returned to their seats. "So... What might this be about?" Asked Viscow as they all took a seat.
"We wanted to ask you about one of your former soldiers. Tendro Aerdon," said Samsul as he gestured with his hands.
"Ah yes. We called him Valor while he was serving. Guy wouldn't stop worth a damn... Would've been the poster child for every soldier everywhere if he wasn't an Anthro... So, what do you want to know about him?" Asked Viscow as he sat back in the chair.
"What work did he do overseas?" Asked Samsul.
"Well, most of the time he was working grenadier work. Disposed of IEDs for convoys."
"Tell me, did he know how to assemble explosives?"
"He took so many of those damn things apart he... probably could put one back together with some practice."
And did he use some kind of marksman rifle or something similar?"
"It's common to use a high-powered rifle to shoot devices that can't be disarmed with other means... What's this all about?"
"We um... We suspect that he had a part in the attack on Charston's house."
"W-What? Valor? Listen, if you said almost any other Anthro then I'd believe you... But Tendro? He's not like that... He wouldn't do anything..."
"Um, General Viscow?" Asked a young Sinderlo soldier as he walked into the room.
"Y-Yes, what is it?" Asked Viscow.
"We just intercepted a text message sent by Major Aerdon to other Anthro officers and soldiers via a radio tower..." said the solider.
"Please, let the detectives know as well with him," said Viscow with a smile. "Let's hear how he's not a traitor to the Empire."
"It's a text asking them to leave the army and head to the FAR," said the soldier meekly. Viscow's jaw dropped as Samsul took the phone from the soldier.
"Thank you..." said Samsul looking through the text. "Well... We know he's likely part of it now... Tell me, why did he get discharged?"
"H-He... I'm sorry, this is just sudden. I thought so highly of him too..." said Viscow as he sat forwards.
"I understand... why was he discharged?" Inquired Samsul.
"Not like it matters," said Elwin as she texted on her phone.
"It established motive," corrected her Samsul.
"Right... H-He was on the trail of an arms dealer... leading a squad to take him down. Valor just... He stuck his nose where it shouldn't've been and he... We had undercover agents get caught in the cross fire that day that paid with their lives... Valor shouldn't have been there but he was. He was just trying to take down an arms dealer... We told him to leave it be but he didn't... Six people died that day because he tried to bring down a dealer that got away. And a few days later we find him," said Viscow as he brought his hand to his forehead.
"So, he was discharged for a failure to follow orders... I see now..." said Samsul as he jotted down his notes.
"Wait, about this dealer... He only got away for a few days?" Asked Elwin looking up at him. "If he is still out there then he could be a supplier to the terrorists."
"He's dead... We got an email from somebody by the name of Lightning that gave the location and other details of the dealer's compound. He was willing to turn over all information to help us bring him down after we paid him," admitted Viscow.
"Yes, we're aware of Lightning... What did he want?" Asked Samsul.
"A detailed process of the system that Anthros are discharged... I couldn't imagine why he would need to know that but... We told him about it and then using his information we brought down the dealer..."
"Lightning most likely used the information to gain access for the names and information about discharged soldiers. He's been known to help smuggle people across borders for a number of reasons."
"So... He's a coyote."
"Yes... Both in occupation and Anthro. His real name is Data Tecncho and he's at large at the moment... Escaped custody with the help of another Anthro..." said Samsul as he put down the pencil. "We'll get him though. Now, about Aerdon, where did he go after discharge?"
"He was left in Gingdale... Probably didn't get much of a job so he was probably there... I thought he would be dead from the shock wave but... I guess not..."
"I understand... Can we contact you if we have any other questions?" Asked Samsul as he put away some folders.
"Yes, here's my number... I'm sorry I have to sort this out too... Crap..." said Viscow. He scribbled something onto a note and handed it to Samsul. He quietly excused himself and walked out. Two soldiers stood by, waiting to escort the two detectives out.
"Well, looks like he is the guy," said Samsul as he texted the information out. "Member of the FAR means we can start to investigate them."
"They're rebels and traitors anyways. I say round 'em up and torture them to death," said Elwin as they walked out. "So, you think Lightning is also part of this?"
"Hard to say," said Samsul as he put his phone away. "But... Oh crap."
"What?" Asked Elwin with some concern.
"The Gene Force just took down a group of FIU terrorists," said Samsul as he looked at the article.
"How bad were the casualties?" Asked Elwin as she kept walking.
"Right now, only FIU but hard to say. Turns out the Gene Force got inflicted with Feral Gas and that gave a boost to their powers somehow. They disappeared after attempting to attack police officers."
"Oh... Crap. Where ever they are I hope they're not killing anyone."
"Same here." The two finished walking to the car and started it. "You know... I got an idea," said Samsul as he started to drive. "We need to get Anthros to go undercover to find out the FAR right?"
"I'd assume so, why?" Asked Elwin as she texted on her phone next to him.
"Well... I think I know just who to ask," said Samsul as he programmed his GPS on his phone.
"Who?" Asked Elwin, her eyes darting up to him.
"Well... You're gonna find out now why I'm so friendly with Anthros," said Samsul. The two drove off onto the highway with the newest information.
