It was late as Lucno and Margha were in a department store shoping for new clothes. The store was large and had racks and racks of clothes with a number of Anthros around them. "So, what do you zink? Will zis look good?" Asked Lucno as she held up a slim black dress to herself and looked in the mirror.
"What makes you think I can see you though these?" Asked Margha as she took off the thick sunglasses Lucno had given her. The glasses blacked out the light and made everything dark for her.
"You can take zem off in here," said Lucno as she snatched them away from her. "Zey're just for you to get use to the dark."
"Now you tell me," said Margha as she looked over to the men's section. She saw Werlan over there, looking through a few shelves and grabbing a few shirts. Lucno looked over to see what she was looking at and then turned back to Margha, ducking behind a shelf.
"Why does he have to be here?" Asked Lucno.
"It's just Werlan. He's not that big of a monster," said Margha. "At least compared to the rest of us."
"Nein... It's not zat... It's just zat he's so... how do you say? Hot?" Asked Lucno as she looked away from Werlan and to Margha. "It's just zat he's a legend to us. A mythical being. I've aspired to be at the levels zat he's at... And seeing him in person is... amazing. He's tall, handsome, everything."
"Then why not talk to him. We're team members and you're his secretary, now right?" Asked Margha, seeing Werlan sneak up being Lucno and put a finger to his lips.
"Zat's ze problem. I don't want to mess with emotions on ze field, and if it gets out zat we're dating zen zat could mean a scandal and it could ruin him!" Exclaimed Lucno.
"What about you?" Asked Margha.
"I'm a ghost. I can just disappear again. I don't have much of a family, nor alliance... I want one, ja, but I don't want him to suffer because of me. He can't disappear like me... Besides, it's not like I have much of a chance. He sold his body to females zat are better zan me anyways, not to mention, I don't have much going for me."
"So that explains the slim black dress. Trying to show off yourself to him."
"Ja, just even a chance to draw him to me."
"And what exactly makes you think I can't disappear?" Asked Werlan. Lucno froze in place, the color from her fur slowly draining away from her.
"I'll leave you be," said Margha as she walked off.
"Umm... Hallo, Werlan," said Lucno. "I um... Look, I didn't want to say anything because... Well..."
"Because you fell in love with the rumors, the mystery, the lies, all that," said Werlan. "Not me. Just the King."
"... Ja... You're right... But... I want to know you. I want to spend time with you and all but I'm just... Worried is all. I mean, meeting your hero in person... granted when growing up it was your dad apparently."
"Right, but now I'm your hero that you looked up to and now having even the remotest chance to have me get a relationship with you. That's it hun?"
"...You know when you say it it does sound bad."
"Look, I'm not saying no, but I'm just saying that I've heard the whole 'I love you' skit so many times that it doesn't mean much anymore for me. It's always the same. Flirt, smile, drink, fuck, get paid, never hear from them again. And the repeats are just somewhat abusive. So yeah, I've heard it all before."
"But I'm not like the others. You know that... After all you did read through my diary."
"...The problem is that you're right... And I know that... But I can't just... It's... I just can't put it into words. I... I like you, I honestly do. I-I guess I'm scared too, hun? First time that ever happened when just talking to someone... Yeah... So, um... How do we do this?"
