Incubus

It was a few hours before Data and Werlan had hacked into the courthouse when...

Sorry to cut in Mr. Narrator, or is it Mrs?

W-Who are you?

You already know me, read the chapter's title.

Lanchar?

It says Incubus but whatever. Listen, things are really... messy right now. I'm back in my body, walking down a hospital corridor, and I'm feral. Oddly enough me being feral allows me to break the fourth wall, but I know I'll conveniently forget after this chapter. I've already jotted down everything I need for the future in my journal.

That's against the rules.

The rules are imaginary, or did you forget about Marlo? The voice that came to Ceves in the garage and the one to Theon that was something like 'An old friend is going to be your greatest ally in this. Depend on those close to you and you will see this through.' Or something stupid like that. Anyways I'm going to take the stairs. Knowing you, you'll cut the elevator's power to stop me.

Y-You can't.

You're supposed to escape here, yes, but showcase your powers and...

How about I tell it from my perspective then? You've been narrating for a while, so why not go take a break. Maybe get something to eat or drink or whatever you disembodied voices that put words onto paper or a computer do.

Fine, I could use a break anyways.

Good, now excuse me I have a chapter to tell. Now, where am I? Oh, that's right. I walked out of the doorway of the stairwell into a hallway of the ground floor to see what you would have expected. A series of while walls with wooden doors that were examination rooms. The floors were white tiled and white tray ceilings with fluorescent bulbs in the ceiling. I walked through the halls, looking at the Sinderlos getting their checkups as Anthros were in the rooms coughing, sneezing, even bleeding profusely.

I decided to take a detour to the reception area. There was a Sinderlo woman in a white outfit chewing on something. Her makeup was, honestly, hideous and unflattering. "Can I help you?" She asked after swallowing anything.

"Step away for a moment," I told her. She simply got up and walked away to some place as I grabbed hold of the microphone to the PA system.

"Attention, everyone," I said into the system. "At the current moment, every Anthro that can travel to the Free Anthro Republic please do so via the safest way possible. Every sick or injured Anthro please travel to the Free Anthro Republic when you can in the safest way possible. Every doctor, nurse, specialist, medical person, please aid Anthros in an order of their urgency and how bad it is. As for the Sinderlo patients, you can wait, trust me, you can. That is all." I turned off the PA system and everyone fell into my trance.

Doctors left their Sinderlo patients and helped the Anthros. The Anthros that could leave left, and others did soon after being treated. I left before I could see the end of it all, and headed down the road. I was still wearing a medical gown but nobody stopped me, guess people just accept weirdness a bit better. I headed down a side road to see the police lining a number of Anthros up against a wall, forcing them to keep their paws clasped around the back of their heads.

"Alright, cavity search, let's go. You know the drill," said an officer, pointing a pistol at them. There were three other officers with their weapons drawn and aimed at the Anthros. The Anthros reluctantly and slowly stripped naked in the cold fall air, the officers watching with some mix of disgust and amusement.
