It was dusk as Theon and Char were in the basement of the mansion. The basement had been converted into a lab long ago for personal testing of new devices. Char was in a large metal box with a series of cameras and sensors around the box. Char was wearing a black jump suit and a pair of black boots. The lab was pure white with a series of tables and tools around the area for testing.
"Alright Char," said Theon over a microphone from the control center behind some thick ballistic glass. "Testing the Inferno Fabric. Let's see how high you can get it before it gets to critical."
"Alright... This stuff won't melt to my skin, right?" Asked Char as she pulled on the suit.
"It's designed to burn up before that," informed Theon.
"Fine... I hope this works," said Char as she took a deep breath. She felt her body burn up like before, the red marks appeared, and she set herself ablaze. The jumpsuit held together, keeping cool under the intense heat. "Alright, up to two hundred degrees Fahrenheit," said Theon as he stared at a number of gages. "How's it holding?"
"It's still on me... that's good right?" Asked Char looking down at herself through the flames as she patted her body. "Fire's leaking through obviously. And I still don't feel hot."
"Alright... I think that you should hold off. Think we got it," said Theon as he analyzed the information.
"Copy that... Give me a minute," said Char. She calmed her mind and the flames slowly died down, leaving her and the suit intact. "Well... I'm getting better at this," said Char as she opened the door to the box, walking out to the rest of the lab.
"Alright, so we have the materials for your uniform... As for mine we already found something that will work. Ironically, it's the same stuff," said Theon as he looked over the charts. "As for the materials for the weapons we're working on that too."
"Right, speaking of which..." said Char as she walked over to a table. On it was a Mk. 17 Mod. 0 rifle and a series of targets in a makeshift firing range. "Might as well get some target practice in." she put on a pair of noise canceling headphones and a pair of goggles. The headphones rested over her ears, canceling the sound of the gunfire.
"Well, probably a good idea," said Theon as he grabbed an M16A4 rifle from the table. He grabbed a pair of headphones, put them on, and the two-opened fired at the targets. The bullets ripped through the air, shredding the paper targets at the end of their journey. Every pull of the trigger kicked the gun into their shoulders. After the few seconds of fire the two unloaded their magazines and checked the targets.
"Alright, not bad," said Theon looking at his. There was a tight grouping of shot around the chest and the other at the head. A few others were scattered around the target randomly as well.
"Damn, he's dead," said Char after looking at the entire clip she put into the target's head. "Not bad for a couple of rookies."
"I'd say so. Any news from your friend?" Inquired Theon.
"Yeah, she's expecting us in the morning along with her roommate. Apparently, both of them want to talk to us about this for some reason. They're in Sindel City in an apartment building off the main streets."
"Good. I just need the GPS location then we can get there no problem," said Theon as he picked up a metal glove from one of the tables. The glove had a thick metal band around the wrist part of the glove with a series of wires embedded into the black fabric. There was a small metal disk in the middle of the palm and wires running too it from in between the fingers. "What is that thing anyways?" Asked Char as she looked at a similar one.
