Eli lead me up the stairs. His arms were full of snacks, but stopped just outside of what I guess is his room.
"What was that downstairs?"
I held my breath. I tried to make the story sound much better than it had appeared to be.
I was curious about his record player and put on a record. Then he asked me to dance. I explained.
"You don't like like him do you?"
What do you mean? I knew exactly what he meant.
"Do you have a crush on him?"
He's my teacher Eli, and we were just dancing. How stupid and pathetic do I sound? Oh we were just dancing nothing is going on between us. As stupid as it sounds, it's the truth. Nothing is happening.
His hands were obviously too full with the mountain of snacks in them, so I opened the door. What I saw was a typical boy room. There were clothes and paper on the floor and posters of half naked girls on motorcycles on the wall along with athletes from different sports. Eli dumped the snacks and liters of drinks on the surprisingly clean and made up bed and started to pick up the mess.
"Sorry it's a bit junky in here. Iv'e been busy with...stuff, well actually nothing iv'e just been too lazy to clean."
Amen. I thought.
When he finished his quick clean, he plopped himself on the bed. I was able to look at the room much better now. The room had a lot of space. There was a black desk with a lamp and a whole bunch of papers stacked on it, on the wall to the right of me stood a maroon dresser with six drawers, and the walls were a dark purple. The color coordination for this room was so well put together it was hard to believe that Eli or Tristan could put it together.
"So what are we working on first?" He sat up and grabbed and grabbed a bag of gummy worms.
I walked over to the bed. You have that Romeo and Juliet study guide?
"Yup." He pulled it out of his bag. It was a little bit wrinkled but it wasn't in bad shape.
"Did you finish the chapters that were assigned?"
I finished the book.
"You finished the entire book? In one week?" He asked. He didn't sound convinced.
I read the book over the summer. Every year there are new books out there waiting to be read and at the end of the school year I gather up books to read for the summer. I call them my summer book collection. I'm a very organized person. If the book is a series I buy the whole series, I don't like to wait after I'm done reading a book to start the next. Sometimes I have to order the books online, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. This summer alone I had bought a little over 40 books and lets just say I was bored as hell the last 2 weeks of summer. I even had to re-read some of my old books, my mom wouldn't let me buy any more.
"Well then we can finish the whole study guide today. This is great." Eli said snapping me out of my thoughts.
But if I give you the answers now you won't study, and if you don't study then you won't learn, and if you don't learn then how will you pass the test?
"There's a test?"
What did you think the study guide was for?
"A clever way to keep us busy for three weeks without the teachers actually having to work and get paid for it."
Maybe, but it's for you to study for the test. These questions will be on the test, some of them might be re-worded so you'll have to study hard.
