Tickling Feeling

It hadn't been more than maybe five minutes after the guys all left the bus to go to the studio that the silence began to bother Beth. She flipped through a magazine about cars for a while, but she was quickly bored with that. She flipped through the channels on TV, but there was nothing she wanted to watch.

She turned the TV back off and drummed her fingers restlessly on the back of the couch. She glanced at her watch. 12:45. Wow. I have the whole afternoon to be bored out of my mind.

She picked up Hunter's guitar from its stand in the corner, took it to the couch and strummed randomly. She struck a familiar sounding chord, and followed it until she'd figured out the tune to Ronnie Milsap's "There's No Getting Over Me". She smiled to herself, playing it through a couple of times, then resting her head on the back of the couch, closing her eyes, and playing it again.

"You can walk out on me tonight, if you think that it ain't feeling right, but, darling, there ain't no getting over me," she sang, glad there was no one on the bus to hear her.

"Yikes," someone said, proving Beth wrong on that point. She stopped strumming and singing and saw Hunter shrugging out of his jacket in the corner of the room. "If I had known someone was sacrificing small animals in here, I would have waited outside or something!"

Beth rolled her eyes. "Ha, ha, Mr. Hayes. Very funny. We can't all sing like you, you know!"

Hunter just laughed, coming over to sit down next to her. "Was that Ronnie Milsap?"

Beth nodded. "Yep. I love that song. Do you know it?"

"Oh, yeah. Actually, we used to cover it all the time."

Beth smiled at him. Hunter was maybe the first guy she'd been comfortable with since her encounter with her ex-boss. At the same time, he was also the guy with whom she was the most uncomfortable. She wondered idly why she felt such drastically different things for him. She had no more answer to that question now than she had any other time she'd asked it, so she shrugged it off once again.

"Where have you been, Mr. Hayes? The boys all left twenty or so minutes ago." She continued to strum chords on his guitar, but she caught the rush of red on his cheeks and immediately stopped again.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! I know that shade of red!" She howled in laughter, making him blush even harder. She slapped her knee and stared at him. Gosh, he was adorable when he was embarrassed!

"You were with Amanda, weren't you?" He smiled cheekily. "Yes, you were! Oh my gosh! Did you take her on a date?" Now, why does that feel wrong to say? Hunter dating? Hmm. That doesn't seem quite right somehow.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I did." Hunter smiled again, remembering just how awesome that date had been.

Beth put his guitar aside and made a show of giving him her undivided attention.

"What?" he asked, looking at her like she'd lost her mind. Really, he should be used to her teasing him by now.

"Well, aren't you going to tell me how it was?"

He shook his head. "No. No, I don't think I will."

Her mouth dropped open and she feigned a hurt look. "Oh, come on, tell me!"

"No. No, no, no. Nope. My lips are sealed." He smirked at her. How dare he? She thought, catching on to his game. He's turning the table on you!

"Why not, Mr. Hayes?"

His face took on a look of confusion at her comment. "Mr. Hayes? How long have you been calling me that?"
