PERSONALITY clara lives up to her surname by being religious, through her strong faith in God and frequent visits to the church. ironically, she is very obsessive over gay fanfiction (which includes smut) and tends to swear in spanish a lot. her relatives have described her to be "loca", considering she can be very hyper and enthusiastic. although she's "americanized", she still speaks spanish amongst her relatives, and puts a lot of interest in mexican culture.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE like the rest of the family, clara has an olive complexion, brown hair, and brown eyes. standing at 5'4", she is more on the short side. she wears a cross necklace, and is also said to strongly resemble her mother.
BACKGROUND INFO clara was born and raised in california by a family of mexican heritage. her parents were originally from guadalajara, until they decided to move to america for job purposes. her maternal family's full of shoemakers (coincidentally, that's what "zapatero" means) while her father is a former musician who became a chemical engineer. she is the second eldest among five children, with three brothers and a little sister; one of them being leo, a figure skater. clara skated too, having competed since she was 11 until she quit at the age of 16 to focus on her studies.
she graduated from high school in 2011 before going to the university of california to study medicine. after earning her bachelor's degree, she moved on to medical school and finished as of 2010. after then, she married her fellow mexican nicolás de la vega (who came from a very wealthy family and whose mother disapproved of clara), and had three children with him, namely coco, clarissa, and miguel. although clara was already a mother, she still pursued to take a residency program as of 2021, right after the covid-19 outbreak. she completed it after 3 years, and officially became a doctor.
clara and nicolas filed a divorce as of 2034. clara took her daughters under her custody while nicolas took their son under his. she, along with her daughters, is currently residing in new york with her brother leo and his chinese husband, guanghong ji. clara still gets the chance to see miguel occasionally, and in those times allow coco and clarissa to see their father, even if they may still have indignant feelings towards him.
