BACKGROUND INFO hugo is the eldest of five siblings. his mother is a member of sweden's most prominent banking family, whereas from his father's side, he's a descendant of paul von hindenburg, a german general who commanded the imperial german army during the first world war and became president of germany from 1925 up until death (he was also the one who appointed adolf hitler as chancellor, under pressure from advisers). hugo's grandmother, maria von hindenburg (née da varano) is also a descendant of the medici family, an italian banking family & political dynasty that dissolved in 1743 after their male line went extinct (the medicis had a major influence on the growth of the italian renaissance through their patronage of the arts and humanism).
