mrs. buchanan died when jim was only eight, leaving him with his indifferent father. mr. buchanan barely gave any of his time to his son, only talking to him when he has something to discuss regarding jim's future and the family business. the boy has a few friends (abigail and the plisetsky twins included), but is still quite lonely especially at home.
from kindergarten until 6th grade, jim attended birch wathen lenox school, then he spent two years in collegiate school until finally transferring to riverdale country school for 9-12th grade, where he played football and earned his role as quarterback. he graduated in 2040 before going to princeton university to be with abigail dewitt-bukater.
