*Scarlet's Pov*
I opened my eyes to a bright room. I immedietly regret opening them at all. Jade's ushered voice hit my ears. His eyes met mine as he looked over at me. I looked away and scowled.
"Ok, Thank you Ms. Johnson, for checking her up. " Jade smiled.
"Oh, it's no problem! After all, it's a honor to check up the CEO's future wife! " She giggled at the idea.
Jade's face flushed. "Ms. Johnson, it's not like that–"
"It will be! " She winked and walked away.
Jade shook his head and turned his head to look at me. I pursed my lip.
"Are you mad? " He walked over.
I stared at him in shock. "You shot me. Of course I'm mad! "
He let out a soft laugh. "Yes...I am sorry for that. "
I looked away from him.
He grabbed a chair and positioned it right next to the bed and sat. I scooted away.
"Miss Ankist, I truly am sorry. But in all fair of honesty, I knew the bullet wasn't going to kill you." He said softly.
I sat up on the bed instantly. "What? "
"Miss Ankist, since I have already seen all the weird things you do, let's not keep any lies between us, shall we? Miss Ankist, I am assuming that you are not from this world right? That's you dissapear and why all of the information provided in your card is false, because you don't live here? And also why you did not get killed by that bullet? " He spilled out.
I opened my mouth to lie, but closed it up when realizing it's no use. I nodded instead.
He nodded. "I thought so. " I stared at his face, surprised that he would find out so easily.
"And one last question...that place where you live. Where is it? " He asked.
I didn't dare to open my mouth, and turned the other way instead. Despite his eyes pushing me to tell him, I said nothing.
"You can tell me later. At least now I'm glad that I have proved to myself that you can't dissapear on your own. Miss Ankist? "
"Yes? "
"I am going on a trip to Los Angelos in an hour. " He said. "But before that, I have a truce to offer." A truce? "Since what you said is true, about not being able to dissapear unless I am shocked, then that means I can keep you here as long as I want right? "
No, I dug myself into a deeper hole!
"Yes..." I said, sadly.
"Great, then here's my truce. You, Scarlet Ankist, will answer all of my questions one by one. "
I opened my mouth to let out a volcano of protest, but he put his hand up.
"In return, I am protecting you from the police and media, and allowing you to stay in my house."
"What?!" I bit my lip. "I have to live here with you? "
He touched his chest, pretending to be sad. "Are you sad that you have to live with me? Is there anything wrong with me? "
"No but–"
"Then that's all. I will not do anything to you, you will answer my questions and then you are free to go. "
His phone started beeping as soon as he finished. "Oh, I have to leave now. Miss Ankist. Should I call you that or do you prefer something different? "
"Scarlet is fine. "
He nodded. "Scarlet. " He brought out his hand in front of me. I stared at it for a brief second, debating whether to trust him or not, and then shook it. But when I tried to let go, his long fingers stayed wrapped around mine. I looked at him, confused.
"Scarlet. I am truly sorry for shooting you and startling you. " He said once again, his voice sincere.
I nodded and smiled, just to show that it's alright. He smiled back and made his way out. I watched him as he met his bodyguard, and suddenly a strong sense of danger filled me. Me dad is still trying to kill Jade. Unless Jade is careful, my dad will do all he can to kill Jade.
I heard the elevator open and just as he was about to get in, I ran to him.
"Jade, you said you were going to Los Angelos right? "
"Yes. " His eyebrows sewed together, confused.
"Ok, just make sure to be careful. " I warned him.
He laughed. "Why, is something going to happen to me? "
"Not yet. I mean, not if you're careful. You're going somewhere far away. I'm sure you know that accidents happen–you probably know very well. "
"So am I going to die or get into an accident? " He asked, serious now.
"Not one that I know of. Hopefully you won't get into any. Just make sure to be careful. " I said, once again.
He nodded, but kept his eyes on me. "Scarlet, just how do you know all of this? Who are you? "
I shook my head. "Questions for later. "
A deep chuckle erupted from his throat. "Alright. "
He stepped into the elevator, smiling. A split second before the doors closed, he pried them open. "Scarlet? "
"Yeah. "
"I'm not keeping you from anything by making you stay here, am I? "
"Not really, there's nothing that important. "
"Oh, good. Do you have a boyfriend? " His question caught me off guard.
"No..." I answered.
"Husband? " He asked again.
"No! " I'm not even 18!
"Well, I don't have a girlfriend or a wife either. But that's a shame. How could you not have a boyfriend? "
I shrugged. He let the doors go again.
"But that's good. " He said. I glanced up, confused a this choice of words.
The doors began closing and last minute he said. "Just makes you more available for me, right? " He winked just as the door shut closed.
