*Scarlet's Pov*

I sat in the cold jail cell, rubbing my hands over my cold arms to muster up some heat. I've never been in jail before. I only sat here for only 5 minutes, but it felt like a whole hour.

There were other people in the cells beside me and the police officers made sure to keep and eye on all of us. Even a simple cough would cause him to run up to us, to make sure that we weren't planning anything.

I sat in the very far corner of the cell, as far as possible from the officers. They all watched us like we were rapid, fierce animals.

I clutched my knees close to my chest and put my hid my head inside of my body.

I could feel tears welling up in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall.

I never once realized how many things or how many good memories that my life had consisted of before now.

I missed a lot of things at this point...dad's light wrinkled smile, Earl's annoying and nagging voice.

And now...I miss Jade.

The only thing I ever saw him as was a comic book character. But now...

Just the thought of him gives me butterflies.

I leaned my head against the wall, dizziness taking over me. I was stuck. I had no plan and no idea of what to do.

"That's her. " The same gruff, male voice said.

The noise of sharp heel clicking shattered my thoughts. I sucked in a breath, hoping that it wasn't who I knew it was.

"Miss Scarlet Ankist? " A voice called.

I instantly snapped my head back and looked up, to find exactly who I knew it was going to be–Trisha.

I swiftly grabbed the bars of the cell and climbed to stand up. Trisha's face showed no sign of remorse, guilt or regret.

"I'm sorry things had to turn out this way. " Sure you are. "This was the best thing that I could do from my view. " I just stood, keeping my chin up and legs straight.

"It was concerning me how much Jade was ignoring the police and the logical solutions. He can't always continue to cover for your identity either. " She made her eyes look into mine, piercing through me.

"It might not make sense, but living with a potentially dangerous person...not even knowing who you're living with...that's not a good life to live. " She said.

"If you cooperate with the police and faithfully help us with the investigation, then we'll help you as well. " She compromised.

"However, we can't help you now. Jade is the victim of this whole incident, you are the prime suspect. How can the victim help the suspect? They can't. If you want to be free, you must be free of everything that makes you look like the suspect. Please reveal your true identity and tell us everything you witnessed. " She leaned against the wall, her lips were curved the tiniest bit–she was smiling. "Then we can get you a lawyer or whatever you need, and we'll help you. "

I pressed my body against the bars, desperate. "Even if I wanted to reveal my identity, there's nothing to reveal! " I said.

Her face was completely blank, every sign of human emotions were erased from her face.

"What kind of human doesn't have an identity? " She narrowed her eyes.

"I seriously don't have one! " I pleaded once again.

She only let out a small snicker, before spinning her heel and walking out.
