Chapter 50 - Teamwork

"Fire! Fire!"

"Don't let them in!"

Naririnig ko ang sigawan ng mga estudyante, staffs at teachers habang kinakalaban nila ang mga Shinigami na nasa loob na ng campus habang ang iba ay pinipigilan pa rin ang pagpasok ng mga Shinigami na nasa gubat.

"Akemi, duck!" Akane yelled and I followed her order even though I couldn't see what was happening behind me.

"Thanks!" sigaw ko naman.

Humarap ako sa kanila ni Hiro at nakita kong may mga papalapit na naman sa amin kaya bago pa sila tuluyang makalapit ay pinaulanan ko sila ng arrows.

Looking at them fight made me respect them more. They were really experienced when it comes to battles. They were trained to fight from their childhoold and now, even though they were facing three or four Shinigamis at the same time, they could still give them a hard time.

Bigla naman akong nakaramdam ng pangingilabot kaya napatalikod ulit ako at nakita kong may papalapit sa aking tatlong Shinigamis. One of them has an unbelievable speed. I immediately fired three arrows and the two at the sides got their shoulders pierced, but the one in the middle evaded it.

The middle guy lurched at my direction so I quickly summoned my spear and teleported back the bows and arrows. I didn't even know how I did that. Actually, Hiro and Akane could do that, too. Hindi naman kami tinuruan ni Sir Hiroshi kung paano ibalik ang weapons sa Dimension Room pero nagawa namin. Since my blood had already splattered on my weapons, I just imagined the Dimension Room in my mind and the weapon I was holding disintegrated.

Ngayon, hawak ko na ulit ang spear at saktong napigilan ko ang kutsilyo na muntik nang sumaksak sa akin. That was close but I was surprised when the two Shinigamis I shot suddenly appeared on my both sides. I shot them again with arrows but they didn't falter. Nararamdaman ko na ang bigat ng right shoulders ko dahil sa nakuha kong injury kay Abigail. Their physical strength could easily overpower me so I stepped back but they lunged at my direction. The next thing I knew, I was already floating . . . I mean, we were already floating.

"Akemi, draw your bow and arrows," Reiji ordered and I realized he was carrying me on his back and he jumped too high that it felt like we were as high as a four-storey building.

Ginawa ko naman ang sinabi niya. I summoned back my bow and arrows and aimed it at the two Shinigamis while Reiji positioned his slingshot toward the fast one. We were gradually falling and I was just clinging on his shoulders without any support from him so we had to do it quick. We simultaneously released our shots and the three Shinigamis all fell on the ground, as well as us.

"You guys okay?" Napalingon naman agad kami ni Reiji at nakita namin na napatumba na nina Akane at Hiro ang mga kalaban nila.

"Yeah," sagot naman ni Reiji.

"Where's Riye and Ken?" tanong ni Hiro habang pinapagpag ang damit niya na parang wala lang nangyari.

"Riye's helping the medical team while Ken is there," sabay turo ni Reiji sa right side namin.

"Nakikita mo ba siya, Akemi?" tanong naman sa akin ni Akane. Tumingin ako sa direction na tinuro ni Reiji at agad kong nakita si Ken 850 meters away from us.

Wait, 850 meters? Nadagdagan ang distance na nakikita ko. Naramdaman ko naman na unti-unting nagbabago ang kulay ng mga mata ko. They turned yellow.

"Yeah."

"Reiji, use this para kunin siya," saka inabot ni Akane kay Reiji ang sword niya na agad namang naging whip. That was when I realized what she was planning to do since that whip could extend depending on the strength applied to it.

Uh oh. This could get rough.

Sinunod ni Reiji ang sinabi ni Akane at napanganga na lang ako nang paghagis ni Reiji ay sobrang humaba ang whip to the point na umabot nga ito kay Ken at pumulupot sa katawan niya. His eyes widened when he saw it wrapping around his body. Reiji pulled it back and Ken screamed as he got dragged roughly and at a fast speed.

"Ouch!" he groaned as he landed in front of us.

"Tumayo ka na!" sigaw naman ni Akane habang nire-retract ang whip mula sa kanya.

"Get ready, they're here," Hiro warned as several Shinigamis ran toward our direction.

We were about to fight them but they simultaneously collapsed on the ground as arrows bore through their body parts. That was when I realized where the arrow came from.

"Riye!" sabay tingin ko sa direksyon ni Riye at tumatakbo siya papunta sa amin pero napatigil ako nang makita kong pinalibutan siya ng apat na Shinigami.

"She's surrounded!" sabi ko at nagkatinginan naman kami ni Hiro.

"You can help her," he said and I remembered what he said a while ago.

Tumango ako sa kanya at humarap sa direksyon ni Riye. I aimed my arrows at her.

"Ken, at 2 o'clock. Reiji, at 10," I ordered.

"Roger!"

"Akane, watch our backs."

"Aye, aye, captain!"

"Hiro, can you reach Riye's mind?"

"Yeah."

"Tell her to bend down when I give the signal."

"Okay."

After planning our move, I waited for the Shinigamis to reach her.

"Now!" sigaw ko at sabay-sabay kami nina Ken at Reiji na umatake gamit ang weapons namin. I signaled Hiro to tell Riye to bend down and my arrow pierced the chest of the Shinigami behind her. The four Shinigamis crumbled to the ground and Riye safely reached us.

"Nee-chan!" sabay yakap sa akin ni Riye.

But that delight was short-lived.

Nagulat na lang kami nang marinig namin ang pagsigaw ni Akane mula sa likuran. The Reapers appeared before us.

"Oi, brats," Kyuuya grumbled as he glared at us.

"Kyuuya, I told you not to get ahead of us," Raiden, the smoker, said.

"You're not the leader here, Kyuuya."

Bigla namang may lumitaw sa kanan ni Kyuuya na isang babae at halos nanlaki ang mga mata ko nang nakita ko ang mukha niya.

"Don't give me a fucking lecture, Shizu!" sigaw pa ni Kyuuya.

The woman, Shizu, met my gaze and smiled. "My, my. Long time no see, Ms. Lazaro," she greeted.

It was Ma'am Ramos.

I was already expecting to see her here since I learned about Abigail but I didn't know she was a Reaper. That means she's strong.

"You have nowhere to run, Ms. Lazaro," sabay ngiti niya pa sa akin.

"Hey, hey, don't go bullying my students, Ms. Ramos!"

Napatigil kami nang marinig namin ang boses ni Ma'am Reina sa paligid pero hindi ko siya makita. Nasaan siya?

"Reina, this is supposed to be an ambush," Sir Hayate said but I couldn't see him, too. "I told you, Hiroshi, this would fail because of her."

"Oh. Sorry!"

Nagulat na lang ako nang bigla silang nag-appear sa harapan namin, as if they just . . .

"Teleportation, success," sabi ni Sir Hiroshi habang inaayos niya ang eyeglasses niya.

I knet it. But how was that possible? Akala ko ba imposibleng mag-teleport ang living beings dahil sa sub-atomic destruction na sinabi ni Sir Hiroshi dati? Sho how did they do that?
