Chapter 8: That's The Last Thing I'll Ever Do
Ever had a dream that feels so real? Ever had an event so unreal that it feels like a dream? Well, I've had the 'pleasure' to taste both. But it wasn't a dream. No. It was a nightmare.
Everybody stared at me, like if the answer was within me. And maybe it was, but I didn't know by then. How was I supposed to know?
"Kate, anything you would like to tell us?" Tyler asked. His voice was so cold...but weak at the same time. I looked over at him. He was scared, that was more than obvious, but he looked a bit offended as well.
"I don't know. I don't think so," I said staring at the note that was now in my hands- that was, after they handed it to me. Their eyes were glued to me, but I was too nervous to speak. "Excuse me."
I handed the note to Jerome and ran back to my room. Well, that was what I intended to. I was too scared to keep on. Things have gone way too far. Someone has died and whatever is happening, I am somewhat involved with it. What was all of this? I feel like I am going to be killed any minute now. And maybe I am.
I ran like if there was no tomorrow. But it was a stupid attempt. It didn't matter the distance I ran nor the velocity I had, the problems will stick by me. For some odd reason, I didn't seem to care. I just kept on my race and I tried raising the velocity. That was when I bumped into someone. I got hit by the impact and fell right to the floor. I was pretty sure it wasn't Jerome this time. Why? Because the man only cursed and sit there.
"I'm sorry," I said while rubbing my head. I looked up and saw him. "Mystery guy," I said under my breath. He barely looked up and all I could see was an eye patch. That was all I got to distinguish behind his hand.
"You," he said, but so low that his voice had no color whatsoever. If there was one thing I was sure of, it was that mystery guy wasn't Harold. Millions of predictions came into my mind along with some names, but all of my options were impossible.
"Get away from her!" I heard another man yell from behind me. Mystery guy raised his glance, but he covered his whole face with his hand. And just in a matter of seconds, he ran off.
"What the-?" I started as Mr. Patrick reached my side in a matter of milliseconds. "We should go after him..."
"No!" he quickly exclaimed. "Katherine, look at me. He is not worth it," he said looking straight into my eyes. We locked gazes for a moment. I examined his green eyes. They were all puffy and red from crying so much. He was obviously devastated from the Vice-Principal's mysterious death. I questioned his words with my eyes, but then he looked over to where Mystery guy had ran off to. "I'm just hoping he is no harm either."
"Who is he?"
"I wish I knew," his lips said, but his expression didn't convince me. It was almost as if it wasn't just thinking about the recent death of one of his closest friends, but of the sudden disappearance of the man who seemed to know me. Mystery guy knew who I was...and I am one hundred percent sure that isn't going to be safe for me.
"I would ask you if you are okay, but I already know the answer to that. It will be a pretty stupid question," I said rolling my eyes and looking down at the floor shyly. I felt his gaze on me so I decided to look up. At first, he looked confused, but then, he chuckled. I, Katherine Solomon, managed to make Sebastian Patrick smile after devastating news. Yes, I am proud of that.
"Come," he started as he put his arm around my waist and taking my hand in his to help me up. "Let's get you somewhere safe-" he started, but a voice stopped us.
"Katherine!" I heard Jerome's voice. Mr. Patrick slowly let go of me as I stared at Jerome's worried expression. "We all have to talk to you..." he started, but he never glanced my way. He just stared at Mr. Patrick.
