Chapter 5: I know your secret
Well, after that huge embarrassment at Chorus class, nothing got better. Mr. Rochester finally "remembered" he forgot to tell us about the new girl. Just at the name Lorena Adams being mentioned, all eyes turned to me as I could feel all my blood rushing to my face. Before that, I heard Rodney talking about her, saying how beautiful she is. Tyler tried telling me something, but Mr. Rochester called his attention. Basically, Math was worse. By lunch time, I didn't want to hear more about how total perfection here was the best thing to come to this school. It sickened me how everyone saw her like a goddess! So, I ate with my group, but they were surprised when I got up four minutes later saying that I was leaving. I actually ran to the auditorium they use for guitar lessons. I thought Mr. Patrick would be there, but to my surprise, he wasn't. That was fine with me, because it wasn't him the one I was looking for, anyways. All I was looking for was for some privacy. It was obvious that the others would look for me in my room, so that was definitely not an option.
I sat down and took out the piece of paper Tanner had handed me. I opened it, without taking in consideration anything that surrounded me.
Meet me at the greenhouse tonight at 10:30. I have some explaining to do.
-Tyler
I stared at the piece of paper, a bit puzzled. What did he have to explain? And why did it have to be after curfew? And why at the greenhouse? This was all so confusing to me. I stared at those few words written on a paper. It's funny how such little words make you think so much. I took a deep sigh and looked at my surroundings.
"What you got there?" asked a girl's voice that made me jump out of my seat.
What the hell? I was alone here two seconds ago; I swear. I turned around, feeling a bit scared. My eyes fell on Lorena Adams, who was sitting behind me with a devilish smile painted on her perfect face.
"How long have you been here?" I asked her.
"Oh, that's not what matters here. See, what really matters is what you need to do for me," she started.
"What? I don't have to do anything for you!" I argued. She gave me a half smile and then got up. She walked all the way over to where I was standing. Before I knew it, she put a hand on my shoulder and sat me down. After that, she felt free to take a seat next to me.
"You see, I have to win the Star Jam tomorrow, and I am afraid I only have one rival for that. You can't participate, Katherine. Or if not, my path isn't completely free," she said as if it was that simple. I could have warn her about District 5, or about Jerome, or about many others who are amazing, but I didn't want her to know what she was missing on.
"I can't do that. It's a free competition! I will participate," I fought back. She smirked. Why? She isn't supposed to be happy.
"Oh, Katherine. Do I have to go there?" she asked. I stared at her puzzled. Go where? What on Earth does she know? She must have read my mind, because she carried on. "Does summer camp ring a bell? Oh, how about the word police?"
What? No...no! It can't be! I felt the air knock out completely from me. I started shaking. My legs were trembling. It was a good thing I was sitting down. This wasn't real...this was just a horrible nightmare. What I was hearing wasn't real.

"How did you find out?" I asked Harold as I put on my shoes.
"Shouting, bad dreams, the fact that my cabin is close to the office," he said trying to find words to match with everything. It was obvious he was scared, but he tried masking that.
